    Abstract

    Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh asumsi sebagian ahli yang menyatakan terdapat perbedaan kemampuan antara pria dan wanita dipengaruhi oleh konsep diri. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui signifikansi perbedaan profil konsep diri peserta didik berprestasi akademik antara pria dan wanita. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan kuantitatif studi deskriptif. Pengambilan populasi atau sampel tertentu (purposive sampling). Sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas X SMA Negeri 9 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Sebagian besar peserta didik yang berprestasi akademik kelas X SMA Negeri 9 Bandung memiliki konsep diri positif artinya peserta didik yang berprestasi akademik mampu menilai diri dan menilai diri berdasarkan pendapat orang lain secara positif dalam aspek fisik, psikis, sikap, dan (2) Pada aspek fisik terjadi perbedaan yang signifikan yang menunjukkan peserta didik laki-laki yang berprestasi akademik memiliki konsep diri yang lebih positif pada aspek fisik dibandingkan dengan peserta didik perempuan yang berprestasi akademik, yang artinya peserta didik laki-laki yang berprestasi akademik mampu menilai secara positif kondisi fisik yang dimiliki dirinya.

    The influence of self-concept, which is seen from the differences between male and female ability, becomes the background of this study. The objective of this study is to find out the significance difference between self-concept profile of academically excellent male and female students. This study uses quantitative descriptive study, and the population/sample was taken using purposive sampling. The samples were 10 grade students of 9 Senior High School Bandung, Academic Year 2014/2015. The research results show that: (1) Most students, who are academically excellent, have positive self-concept, in meaning that they are able to assess their selves based on other’s opinion in positive manner, seen from physical, psychological, attitude aspects; and (2) In physical aspect, male students who academically excellent show more positive self-concept than female students. Therefore, male students can appreciate their physical condition positively.
