Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan masalah yang ditemukan di lapangan yaitu keterbatasan penggunaan bahan ajar dalam pembelajaran matematika dan kesulitan belajar siswa yang berkaitan dengan kemampuan representasi matematis pada materi kubus dan balok. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut diperlukan suatu pengembangan bahan ajar yang dapat meminimalisir kesulitan tersebut muncul dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Pengembangan bahan ajar yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian desain yang terdiri dari tiga fase yaitu preliminary design (desain permulaan), experiment design (desain eksperimen), dan retrospective analysis (analisis tinjauan). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bentuk tugas-tugas representasi yang dapat memfasilitasi siswa untuk merumuskan langkah-langkah dalam membuat jaring-jaring kubus dan balok, menurunkan rumus luas permukaan serta volume kubus dan balok. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswa kelas VIII J SMP Negeri 7 Bandung tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa tugas-tugas yang dapat memfasilitasi siswa untuk merumuskan langkah-langkah dalam membuat jaring-jaring kubus dan balok dengan cara menugaskan siswa untuk membuat jaring-jaring kubus dan balok berdasarkan langkah-langkah yang telah diberikan, kemudian berdasarkan pengalaman tersebut siswa ditugaskan untuk merumuskan langkah-langkah dalam membuat jaring-jaring kubus dan balok melalui kata-kata sendiri. Sedangkan tugas-tugas yang dapat memfasilitasi siswa untuk menurunkan rumus luas permukaan kubus dan balok berupa kegiatan merepresentasikan masalah dalam bentuk gambar dan melalui pendekatan luas gambar tersebut ditarik kesimpulan tentang rumus luas permukaan kubus dan balok. Selanjutnya tugas-tugas yang dapat memfasilitasi siswa untuk menurunkan rumus volume kubus dan balok berupa kegiatan menggunakan representasi visual dengan dua kasus yang berbeda dan berdasarkan kegiatan tersebut ditarik kesimpulan tentang rumus volume kubus dan balok. This research was conducted due to the problems found in the field experiment which is the existence of limited learning materials in learning mathematics and students learning difficulties in the topics of cube and cuboid. Therefore, according to that problem, it is needed to develop learning materials which minimize that students difficulties to be appeared in learning activity. The development of learning materials in this research uses design research that consists of three phases which are preliminary design, experiment design, and retrospective analysis. This research aims to know the representation of assignments which can facilitate the students to formalize the steps in creating cube and cuboid nets, to construct the formula of the surface area of cube and cuboid, and to construct the formula of the volume of cube and cuboid. This research subject is the student in eight grade of SMP Negeri 7 Bandung in academic year 2014/2015. According to the result of this research, it can be concluded that the representation of assignments which can facilitate the students to formalize the steps in creating cube and cuboid nets is by asking the students to create cube and cuboid nets based on the steps given previously. Further the students will be asked to formalize the steps in creating cube and cuboid nets through their own words. Whereas, the representation of assignments which can facilitate the students to construct the formula of the surface area of cube and cuboid is the activity to represent the problem into picture. Further, based on the area of that picture, students are able to conclude the formula of the surface area of cube and cuboid. Furthermore, the representation of assignments which can facilitate the students to construct the formula of the volume of cube and cuboid is the activity to use visual representation with different two cases. Moreover, based on that activity, students are able to conclude the formula of the volume of cube and cuboid.
