Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan siswa dalam membaca intensif. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari 25 jumlah siswa kelas III A terdapat 17 orang siswa (68 %) yang mempunyai kemampuan membaca intensif rendah. Sebelum menggunakan strategi ini suasana di dalam kelas kurang kondusif, dikarenakan kurangnya minat baca siswa serta strategi pembelajaran yang kurang sesuai. Maka dari dasar itu penulis ingin menerapkan strategi DRTA (Directed Reading Thinking Activity) di Kelas III Sekolah Dasar ini. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah: (1) Mengetahui proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan strategi DRTA untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca intensif kelas III Sekolah Dasar. (2) Mengetahui hasil peningkatan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan strategi DRTA untuk membaca intensif kelas III Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus, masing-masing dilaksanakan dalam waktu 4 x 35 menit, kurikulum 2013. Hasil Penelitian menyatakan bahwa pada siklus I meningkatkan aktivitas siswa dengan skor 12,64 kategori baik dan meningkatkan keterampilan membaca intensif dengan ketuntasan hasil test evaluasi sebesar 56 % (11 dari 25 siswa) tuntas. Sedangkan pada siklus II meningkatkan aktivitas siswa dengan skor 15,68 kategori sangat baik dan meningkatkan keterampilan membaca intensif dengan ketuntasan hasil test evaluasi sebesar 88 % ( 22 dari 25 siswa ) tuntas. Dapat diambil simpulan bahwa strategi DRTA dapat meningkatkan aktivitas dan keterampilan membaca intensif siswa. Peneliti merekomendasikan agar Guru perlu menerapkan strategi DRTA sebagai alternatif pembelajaran yang menyenangkan. Serta untuk peneliti selanjutnya diharapkan dapat meneliti lebih lanjut, agar strategi ini terbukti kembali meningkatkan aktivitas dan keterampilan membaca intensif bagi siswa sekolah dasar. This Research is motivated by the low skills of the students in intensive reading. It can be seen from the 25 students of class III A there are 17 students (68 %) who have low intensive reading. The purpose of this research are : (1) Knowing the learning process by implementing the strategy DRTA. (2) Knowing the improvement of learning outcomes by implementing the strategy DRTA. This study was conducted in two cycles, each carried out in a time of 4 x 35 minutes, using the curriculum in 2013. Research states that in the first cycle increases the activity of students with a score of 12.64 categories of good and intensive reading skills improve with the thoroughness of the evaluation test results of 56% (11 of 25 students) completed. While in the second cycle increases the activity of students with a score of 15.68 category excellent and intensive reading skills improve with the thoroughness of the evaluation test results of 88% (22 of 25 students) completed. Can be taken conclusion that DRTA strategy can enhance the activity and intensive reading skills of students. Researchers recommend that teachers need to implement strategies DRTA as an alternative learning can be fun. As well as for further research are expected to investigate further, that this strategy proved again increase the activity and intensive reading skills for students of elementary school.
