    Abstract

    Pemilihan jurusan di perguruan tinggi sering kali dipengaruhi oleh minat dan keputusan yang dibuat sejak SMA. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh banyaknya kasus salah jurusan yang berdampak pada kepuasan akademik dan prospek karier. Pada tahun 2014, sebanyak 87% siswa mengalami salah jurusan akibat minimnya informasi, perubahan minat, dan tekanan sosial. Berdasarkan fenomena tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis skor asesmen bimbingan dan konseling (BK) untuk merumuskan formula penempatan peminatan siswa pada mata pelajaran Geografi di jenjang SMA. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan paradigma positivistik digunakan melalui desain korelasional. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa beberapa variabel psikologis memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap nilai Geografi. Namun, model prediktif yang dibangun hanya mampu menjelaskan 11–16% variasi nilai, sehingga diperlukan pengembangan lebih lanjut dengan menambahkan variabel lain atau pendekatan analisis yang lebih menyeluruh. Temuan ini dapat menjadi acuan bagi Laboratorium BK UPI dan guru BK dalam mengembangkan sistem asesmen yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan akademik siswa. Secara khusus, hasil ini bermanfaat untuk memetakan minat dan potensi kognitif siswa dalam proses penjurusan. Penelitian lanjutan disarankan untuk memperluas jumlah variabel dan menggunakan metode analisis yang lebih mendalam guna memperkaya pemahaman terhadap kontribusi psikotes terhadap prestasi akademik. The choice of college major is often influenced by interests and decisions made during high school. This research was driven by the issue of inappropriate specialization choices, which can affect students’ academic satisfaction and career prospects. In 2014, 87% of students were reported to be in the wrong major, mainly due to lack of information, shifting interests, and social pressure. This study aims to analyze guidance and counseling (BK) assessment scores to formulate a placement model for high school students choosing the Geography specialization. Adopting a positivist paradigm, this quantitative research uses a correlational design. The findings show that several psychological variables positively influence Geography scores. However, the predictive model explains only 11–16% of the variation, suggesting the need for more comprehensive models and variables. These results can guide the UPI BK Laboratory and school counselors in designing an assessment system aligned with students’ academic needs. Specifically, it highlights the role of psychological assessments in identifying students’ interests and cognitive abilities for appropriate major placement. Future research is encouraged to include more variables and advanced analysis methods to deepen the understanding of the link between psychological testing and academic performance.
