Abstract
Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis merupakan salah satu kemampuan yang penting untuk dimiliki siswa khususnya dalam pembelajaran matematika. Namun, beberapa penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis masih tergolong rendah khususnya pada siswa kelas VII SMP. Salah satu aspek afektif yang diduga berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis adalah motivasi belajar siswa yakni dorongan untuk belajar baik dari dalam atau luar diri siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran motivasi belajar siswa dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis serta mengetahui tentang pengaruh motivasi belajar siswa terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei koralesional. Instrumen penelitian terdiri dari angket motivasi belajar siswa dan tes uraian untuk mengukur kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat korelasi positif antara motivasi belajar siswa dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan motivasi belajar siswa berpengaruh secara signifikan sebesar 16,7% terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Mathematical probleem-solving ability is one of the important ability that students should have, especially in mathematics learning. However, several studies show that mathematical problem-solving ability is still relatively low, especially among seventh-grade junior high school students. One of the affective aspects that is thought to influence mathematical problem-solving ability is students’ learning motivation, which is the stimulus to learn, either from within or outside the student. This study aims to know the description of students' learning motivation and mathematical problem-solving ability, as well as to know the effect of students' learning motivation towards their mathematical problem-solving ability. This study employs a quantitative approach using a correlational survey method. The research instruments consist of a students’ learning motivation questionnaire and an essay test to measure mathematical problem-solving ability. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that there is a positive correlation between students’ learning motivation and mathematical problem-solving ability, and that students’ learning motivation significantly take effect mathematical problem-solving ability by 16.7%.
