    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan permasalahan siswa sekolah dasar yang belum sepernuhnya mendapatkan pola pengasuhan yang tepat dan tidak semua siswa sekolah dasar kelas rendah memiliki empati yang tinggi. Dalam hal tersebut keterlibatan pengasuhan orang tua yang tepat mempunyai peran yang cukup penting dalam pembentukan karakter empati. Namun, karena adanya kesibukan orang tua dalam bekerja sehingga menyebabkan tidak konsistennya pola asuh yang orang tua terapkan untuk anaknya, disebabkan karena keterbatasan waktu dan lainnya sehingga interaksi dengan anak terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pola asuh bagaimana yang orang tua terapkan pada siswa, mengetahui pengaruh pola asuh orang tua terhadap pembentukan karakter empati dan mengetahui bagaimana kesibukan orang tua dalam bekerja mampu memoderasi antara pola asuh orang tua dan empati siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan kuantitatif korelasional melalui penyebaran angket atau kuesioner, observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola asuh orang tua yang dominan diterapkan adalah pola asuh permisif, kemudian terdapat pengaruh pola asuh orang tua yang positif dan signifikan terhadap pembentukan karakter empati yaitu sebesar 35,1%, dan kesibukan orang tua dalam bekerja mampu memoderasi pola asuh orang tua teradap empati dengan memperlemah (negative moderation) yang berarti semakin tinggi nilai variabel moderator, maka pengaruh positif variabel pola asuh orang tua terhadap variabel karakter empati akan berkurang. ----------- This research is motivated by the problem of elementary school students who have not fully received the right parenting pattern and not all elementary school students in lower grades have high empathy. In this case, the involvement of appropriate parental care plays a significant role in the formation of empathetic character. However, due to the busyness of parents in work, it causes inconsistent parenting patterns that parents apply to their children, caused by time constraints and other factors so that interaction with children is limited. This study aims to determine what parenting patterns that parents apply to students, determine the influence of parenting patterns on the formation of empathetic character and determine how busy parents in work can moderate between parenting patterns and empathy students. The type of research used is quantitative correlation through the distribution of questionnaires or questionnaires, observation and interviews. The results of the study showed that the dominant parenting pattern applied was permissive parenting, then there was a positive and significant influence of parenting patterns on the formation of empathy character, namely 35.1%, and parents' busy work was able to moderate parenting patterns on empathy by weakening (negative moderation) which means that the higher the value of the moderator variable, the positive influence of the parenting pattern variable on the empathy character variable will decrease.
