Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pelaksanaan Kurikulum Cambridge di Sekolah Dasar Kristen Yahya Bandung dari perspektif orang tua dan siswa. Kurikulum Cambridge merupakan program internasional yang menekankan pembelajaran aktif, keterampilan berpikir kritis, serta penggunaan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus digunakan dalam penelitian ini, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam, observasi kelas, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian meliputi lima orang tua siswa, sepuluh siswa, satu guru, dan kepala sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan kurikulum ini mencakup perencanaan strategis, penerapan metode pembelajaran aktif, serta penyesuaian terhadap konteks lokal. Meskipun lisensinya telah berakhir, pendekatan Cambridge tetap diterapkan dalam pembelajaran karena dinilai berdampak positif terhadap perkembangan siswa. Orang tua merespons positif dengan menyoroti peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Inggris, kemandirian belajar, serta kepercayaan diri siswa dalam berkomunikasi. Siswa juga menunjukkan respons positif melalui pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan. Namun demikian, tantangan muncul dalam penerapan dua kurikulum secara bersamaan serta keterbatasan penguasaan bahasa Inggris oleh sebagian siswa dan orang tua. Keberhasilan implementasi dipengaruhi oleh kesiapan guru dan siswa, dukungan orang tua, sarana prasarana yang memadai, strategi pembelajaran yang efektif, iklim belajar yang mendukung, serta kepemimpinan kepala sekolah. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar sekolah yang ingin menerapkan Kurikulum Cambridge menetapkan tujuan yang jelas sejak awal, menyiapkan guru secara optimal, dan menjalin kemitraan yang kuat dengan orang tua. This study examines the implementation of the Cambridge Curriculum at Yahya Christian Elementary School in Bandung from the perspectives of parents and students. As an international programme, the Cambridge Curriculum promotes active learning, critical thinking, and the exclusive use of English in lessons. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document review. Participants included five parents, ten students, one teacher, and the school principal. Findings reveal that the school has conducted careful planning, adopted interactive learning methods, and adjusted the curriculum to fit local needs. Although the school’s formal Cambridge licence has expired, its pedagogical principles remain in use across subjects, with positive outcomes for students’ academic and personal development. Parents noted significant gains in their children’s English skills, independence in learning, and confidence in speaking. Students described lessons as enjoyable and looked forward to classroom activities. However, challenges remain, particularly in managing two curricula simultaneously and addressing limited English proficiency among some students and parents. Key factors for success include teacher and student readiness, strong parental support, suitable facilities, appropriate teaching strategies, a positive learning environment, and effective leadership. The study recommends that schools aiming to implement the Cambridge Curriculum clearly define their goals, provide thorough teacher training, and build strong, ongoing collaboration with parents to ensure smooth and successful integration.
