Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil keterampilan membaca pemahaman peserta didik fase B kelas IV yang mana masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami isi secara paragraf maupun keseluruhan bacaan, sehingga guru perlu memberikan solusi untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman. Terdapat dua metode yang dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membaca pemahaman yaitu metode CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) dan KWL (Know, Want, to Learned). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil keterampilan membaca pemahaman peserta didik fase B kelas IV yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran CIRC dengan yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran KWL. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis Quasi Experiment dan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design, teknik analisis data yang digunakan seperti uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji perbedaan rerata, dan uji perbedaan skor N-Gain. Hasil penelitian memperoleh data bahwa hasil pretest keterampilan membaca pemahaman pada peserta didik kelas IV kedua kelas terdapat perbedaan. Kemudian, pada hasil posttest bahwa kedua kelas tersebut memiliki perbedaan pada ketiga indikator yaitu menentukan ide pokok, menceritakan kembali, dan membuat kesimpulan. Berdasarkan uji skor perbedaan N-Gain bahwa peserta didik yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran CIRC mengalami peningkatan hasil keterampilan membaca pemahaman yang signifikan yaitu sebesar 98,16% dengan kategori cukup efektif, dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran KWL mengalami peningkatan sebesar 35,23% dengan kategori kurang efektif. Kata kunci: Metode Pembelajaran CIRC, Metode KWL, Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman This study was motivated by the low reading comprehension skills of fourth-grade students in phase B, who still have difficulty understanding the content of paragraphs and the entire text, so teachers need to provide solutions to improve reading comprehension skills. There are two methods that can improve reading comprehension skills, namely the CIRC (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) method and the KWL (Know, Want, Learn) method. The aims of this study is to determine the difference in reading comprehension skills between fourth grade students in phase B who use the CIRC learning method and those who use the KWL learning method. The research method used was a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Data analysis techniques used included normality tests, homogeneity tests, mean difference tests, and N-Gain score difference tests. The research results obtained data showing that there were differences in the pretest results of reading comprehension skills between the two fourth-grade classes. Furthermore, the posttest results showed that the two classes had differences in the three indicators, namely identifying the main idea, retelling, and drawing conclusions. Based on the N-Gain score difference test, students who used the CIRC learning method experienced a significant increase in reading comprehension skills of 98.16%, categorized as moderately effective, compared to students who used the KWL learning method, who experienced an increase of 35.23%, categorized as less effective.
