Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SMP pada AQ tipe climbers, tipe campers, dan tipe quitters, serta untuk melihat kaitan antara kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan AQ. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 6 siswa kelas IX salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini berupa tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, angket AQ dan wawancara. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan memberi angket AQ kepada seluruh siswa di kelas dan mengkategorikan siswa ke dalam tiga kategori AQ. Kemudian diberikan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Setelah diperoleh hasil angket dan tes, data direduksi untuk dipilih 6 orang siswa sebagai subjek yang akan dibahas dan diwawancara untuk menguatkan temuan angket AQ dan tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dalam penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa proses pemecahan masalah matematis siswa berdasarkan AQ tipe climbers, campers, dan quitters memiliki proses yang berbeda-beda. Siswa dengan AQ tipe climbers dapat menyelesaikan masalah matematis dengan baik. Demikian pula siswa dengan AQ tipe campers dapat menyelesaikan seluruh masalah matematis dengan cukup baik, namun masih belum konsisten. Sedangkan siswa dengan AQ tipe quitters belum mampu memecahkan dan menyelesaikan masalah matematis dengan baik. Serta disimpulkan bahwa terdapat kaitan positif antara kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis dan AQ. Semakin tinggi tingkat AQ yang dimiliki siswa, semakin baik dan konsisten pula proses mereka dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematis, kendatipun tidak berarti tingkat AQ yang dimiliki siswa akan selalu berbanding lurus dengan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematisnya. This study aims to describe the mathematical problem-solving ability of junior high school students in AQ type of climbers, campers, and quitters, and to see the relationship between students' mathematical problem-solving ability and AQ. This study is a qualitative study with a case study approach. The subjects of this study were grade IX students of one of the State Junior High Schools in Bandung City. The instruments in this study were mathematical problem-solving ability tests, AQ questionnaires and interviews. Data collection was carried out by giving AQ questionnaires and categorizing students into three AQ categories. Then a mathematical problem-solving ability test was given. After the results of the questionnaire and test were obtained, the data were reduced to select 6 students as subjects to be discussed and interviewed to strengthen the findings of the AQ questionnaire and mathematical problem-solving ability test. Based on the results of the data analysis in this study, it can be concluded that the mathematical problem-solving process of students based on the AQ types of climbers, campers, and quitters has a different process. Students with the AQ type of climbers can solve mathematical problems well. Likewise, students with the AQ type of campers can solve all mathematical problems quite well, but are still inconsistent. Meanwhile, students with the AQ type of quitters have not been able to solve and resolve mathematical problems well. It is also concluded that there is a positive relationship between mathematical problem-solving ability and AQ. The higher the level of AQ a student has, the better and more consistent their process in solving mathematical problems, although it does not mean that the level of AQ a student has will always be directly proportional to their mathematical problem-solving ability.
