Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa kelas 1 di sekolah dasar. Salah satu faktor penyebabnya adalah metode dan media pembelajaran yang kurang bervariasi serta belum sesuai dengan gaya belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas metode VAKT (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and Tactile) berbantuan media Bingo Kata dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimen one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 21 siswa kelas I di salah satu SD Negeri di Kota Bandung. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes lisan yang mengacu pada indikator membaca permulaan : lafal, kelancaran, kejelasan suara, dan intonasi. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada nilai posttest dibanding pretest, dengan uji paired sample t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikan < 0,05. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa metode VAKT berbantuan media Bingo Kata efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca permulaan siswa. Temuan ini merekomendasikan integrasi metode multisensori dan media permainan edukatif dalam pembelajaran membaca awal di sekolah dasar. This study is motivated by the low early reading skills of grade 1 students in elementary school. One contributing factor is the lack of varied learning methods and media that match students' learning styles. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the VAKT method (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, and Tactile) assisted by Bingo Kata media in improving early reading skills. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects were 21 first-grade students at a public elementary school in Bandung. Data were collected using oral tests based on early reading indicators: pronunciation, fluency, voice clarity, and intonation. The analysis results showed a significant increase in posttest scores compared to pretest scores, with a paired sample t-test indicating a significance value < 0.05. These findings suggest that the VAKT method assisted by Bingo Kata media is effective in enhancing students' early reading skills. The study recommends the integration of multisensory methods and educational game-based media in early reading instruction at the primary school level.
