Abstract
This research is motivated by the problem of low ability to understand mathematical concepts regarding multiplication counting operation material in phase B elementary school students. This is caused by the limited use of learning media during the learning process, so it is necessary to use concrete learning media, namely ‘KPS’ media. This study aims to analyse the effectiveness of the use of ‘KPS’ media on improving the ability to understand the mathematical concepts of phase B students on multiplication material. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, namely the form of one-group pre-test-post-test design. The sample of this study was class III students totalling 19 people. The results showed that the average pre-test score was 64.37 and the average post-test score was 90.63. Based on the results of data analysis using SPSS Statistics 29, the results of the paired sample t-test test showed a significance value of 0.001 <0.05, which means there is a difference in means. The result of the mean difference test on the N-Gain score is 0.71 or 71.91% which shows high effectiveness criteria. It can be concluded that the use of ‘KPS’ media is effective enough to improve the ability to understand mathematical concepts on multiplication material.
