Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa setalah diterapkan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) berbantuan media pembelajaran “CERGAM LIPAT”(Cerita Bergambar Nilai Tempat) siswa kelas V pada materi nilai tempat bilangan cacah sampai 1.000.000. Hal tersebut dilatarbelakangi oleh kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas V pada materi nilai tempat bilangan yang masih perlu ditingkatkan. Salah satu yang menyebabkan hal tersebut yaitu belum tersajinya masalah realistik yang dapat dibayangkan oleh siswa, sehingga menyulitkan mereka dalam memahami materi yang diajarkan. Fase konkret pada materi nilai tempat bilangan cacah sampai 1.000.000 dapat dicapai menggunakan salah satu pendekatan pembelajaran berbasis student centered (berpusat kepada siswa) yang bertitik tolak dari kehidupan nyata siswa dan berkaitan dengan konteks ilmu matematika, yaitu melalui penerapan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) berbantuan media pembelajaran “CERGAM LIPAT”. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif melalui desain penelitian pre-experimental dengan bentuk one-group pretest-posttest design. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen tes berupa pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan RME dengan media “CERGAM LIPAT” efektif dalam pembelajaran matematika, khususnya pada materi nilai tempat bilangan. Hal tersebut terlihat dari hasil uji perbedaan rerata serta skor N-Gain sebesar 0,7605 yang termasuk dalam kategori efektif. This study aims to determine the improvement in students’ understanding of mathematical concepts after applying the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by the learning media "CERGAM LIPAT"(Picture Story of Place Value) for fifth-grade students on the topic of place value of whole numbers up to 1,000,000. This was motivated by the fact that the mathematical concept comprehension ability of fifth-grade students in the topic of place value still needs improvement. One of the causes is the lack of realistic problems that students can visualize, making it difficult for them to understand the material being taught. The concrete phase in learning the place value of whole numbers up to 1,000,000 can be achieved by using a student-centered learning approach that is grounded in students’ real-life experiences and connected to mathematical contexts—namely, through the application of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by the "CERGAM LIPAT" learning media. The research method used is quantitative with a pre-experimental design in the form of a one-group pretest-posttest design. The data collection technique used in this study is a test instrument in the form of pretests and posttests. The results showed that the application of the RME approach with the "CERGAM LIPAT" media was effective in mathematics learning, particularly on the topic of place value. This is evident from the average difference test results and an N-Gain score of 0.7605, which falls into the effective category.
