Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan model problem based learning untuk meningkatkan literasi sains pada tema lingkungan di sekolah dasar serta untuk mengetahui kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik sebelum dan setelah penerapan pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi dari rendahnya literasi sains peserta didik berdasarkan hasil PISA 2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain one group pre-test post test. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 26 responden peserta didik kelas 5. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa rata-rata nilai pre-test termasuk pada kategori kurang yaitu sebesar 63,46. Sementara, rata-rata nilai post-test termasuk pada kategori baik yaitumencapai 85,38. Dilihat dari hasil tersebut dapat dikatakan bahwa penerapan model problem based learning mampu meningkatkan literasi sains peserta didik yang diintegrasikan pada hasil pre-test dan post-test. Selain itu terdapat juga peningkatan indikator setelah diberikan perlakukan pada pre-test post-test, pada indikator mengidentifikasi isu ilmiah peningkatan sebesar 21%, pada indikator menggunakan bukti ilmiah peningkatan sebesar 22%, pada indikator menjelaskan fenomena ilmiah peningkatan sebesar 21%. Berdasarkan hasil observasi indikator literasi sains telah muncul pada saat proses pembelajaran. Selain itu pada uji n-gain memperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,60. Maka dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model problem based learning untuk meningkatkan literasi sains pada tema lingkungan di sekolah dasar dapat dikatakan cukup efektif. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of applying the problem-based learning model to improve science literacy on the theme of the environment in elementary schools and to determine the ability of science literacy of students before and after the application of learning with the problem-based learning model. This research is motivated by the low science literacy of students based on the results of PISA 2022. This research uses quantitative method with one group pre-test post test design. The results of this study showed that the average pre-test score was in the poor category, which was 63.46. Meanwhile, the average post-test score is included in the good category, reaching 85.38. Judging from these results, it can be said that the application of the problem-based learning model is able to improve the scientific literacy of students integrated in the pre-test and post-test results. In addition, there is also an increase in indicators after being given treatment in the pre-test post-test, on indicators of identifying scientific issues an increase of 21%, on indicators using scientific evidence an increase of 22%, on indicators explaining scientific phenomena an increase of 21%. Based on the observation, the indicators of science literacy have appeared during the learning process. In addition, the n-gain test obtained a significance value of 0.60. So from these results it can be concluded that the application of the problem-based learning model to improve science literacy on the theme of the environment in elementary schools can be said to be quite effective.
