Abstract

Keterampilan membaca pemahaman merupakan salah satu kemampuan berbahasa yang diajarkan di sekolah dasar. Kemampuan membaca pemahaman merupakan kemampuan yang harus dikusai oleh siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (CIRC) berbantuan gambar seri terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan minat baca siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan nonequivalent pretest dan post-test control group design. Penelitian dilaksanakan di dua sekolah negeri di wilayah Kabupaten Bandung Barat dengan melibatkan 54 orang kelas IV. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes pilihan ganda dan soal uraian untuk mengukur kemampuan membaca pemahaman, instrumen angket untuk mengukur minat baca siswa, serta lembar observasi aktivitas siswa untuk menilai aktivitas siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Data penelitian diolah berdasarkan hasil pretest dan post-test kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan program IBM Statistical Product and Service Solution (IBM SPSS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model CIRC berbantuan gambar seri berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan minat baca siswa. Berdasarkan hasil pretest dan post-test, keterampilan membaca pemahman siswa mengalami peningkatan yang rata-rata awalnya 11,19 menjadi 23,85 setelah diterapkannya model CIRC berbantuan gambar seri. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas eksperimen dengan menggunakan model CIRC berbantuan gambar seri memiliki rata-rata skor yang lebih baik. Hasil minat baca yang dilakukan terhadap kelas eksperimen juga menunjukkan perubahan yang positif. Hal ini dapat terlihat dari pencapaian rata-rata kemampuan membaca pemahaman dan kenaikan persentase setiap indikator pada minat baca. Reading comprehension skills are one of the language skills taught in elementary schools. Reading comprehension skills are skills that must be mastered by students. This study aims to determine the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition (CIRC) model assisted by picture series on the reading comprehension skills and reading interests of fourth grade elementary school students. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental method using a nonequivalent pretest and post-test control group design. The study was conducted in two public schools in West Bandung Regency involving 54 fourth grade students. The instruments used were multiple-choice tests and essay questions to measure reading comprehension skills, questionnaire instruments to measure students' reading interests, and student activity observation sheets to assess student activities during the learning process. The research data were processed based on the results of the pretest and post-test of the experimental and control classes which were then analyzed using the IBM Statistical Product and Service Solution (IBM SPSS) program. The results showed that the CIRC model assisted by picture series had a significant effect on students' reading comprehension skills and reading interests. Based on the results of the pretest and post-test, students' reading comprehension skills increased from an average of 11.19 to 23.85 after the implementation of the CIRC model assisted by a series of pictures. These results indicate that students in the experimental class using the CIRC model assisted by a series of pictures have a better average score. The results of reading interest conducted on the experimental class also showed positive changes. This can be seen from the achievement of the average reading comprehension ability and the increase in the percentage of each indicator in reading interest.
