Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan penalaran dan disposisi matematis peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan metode focus group discussion dan pembelajaran konvensional serta hubungan antara kemampuan penalaran dan disposisi matematis peserta didik baik yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan metode focus group discussion maupun pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode quasi experimental dan nonequivalent pretest-postest control group design. Penelitian dilakukan di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kabupaten Indramayu dengan populasi seluruh peserta didik kelas VIII tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah dua kelas VIII sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data kemampuan penalaran matematis diperoleh dari hasil pretest dan postest peserta didik. Sedangkan data disposisi matematis diperoleh dari hasil pengisian angket disposisi matematis sebelum dan setelah pembelajaran oleh peserta didik. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan metode focus group discussion lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional; 2) Peningkatan disposisi matematis peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan metode focus group discussion lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional; dan 3) Tidak ada hubungan antara kemampuan penalaran matematis dengan disposisi matematis baik pada peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan metode focus group discussion maupun peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional. This research aims to determine the increase in mathematical reasoning ability and mathematical disposition of students who received focus group discussion learning method and students who received conventional learning and to determine the correlation between mathematical reasoning ability and mathematical disposition of students who received focus group discussion learning method and students who received conventional learning. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The research was conducted at one of junior high school in Indramayu which population is all eight-grade students on 2023/2024 academic year. The sample in this study consists of two classes as the control class and the experimental class which were selected using purposive sampling techniques. Mathematical reasoning ability data was obtained from students' pretest and posttest results. Meanwhile, mathematical disposition data was obtained from the results of mathematical disposition ability questionnaires before and after learning. The results of this research are: 1) The improvement of students’ mathematical reasoning abilities who received focus group discussion learning method is significantly higher than students who received conventional learning; 2) The improvement of students’ mathematical disposition who received focus group discussion learning method is significantly higher than students who received conventional learning; and 3) There is no correlation between mathematical reasoning abilities and mathematical disposition in both students who received focus group discussion learning method and students who received conventional learning.
