Abstract
Pada kondisi awal kemampuan anak mengenal kosakata bahasa Inggris masih rendah yakni 60% belum berkembang (BB), setelah penggunaan media mystery box mengalami peningkatan sebanyak 80% anak berkembang sangat baik (BSB). The basis of this research is the idea that early introduction to English is important. However, the reality on the ground is that kids have difficulty to learn English, in particular vocabulary, especially vocabulary and the lack of learning media to help kids learn. The aim of this research is to enhance early childhood vocabulary recognition abilities in English by employing mystery box media. This research uses a collaborative classroom action research (PTK) method, in which the researcher collaborated with the class teacher. The subjects of this research were 20 children in group B. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, field notes and documentation. The research was conducted in two cycles with six actions. The results showed an increase in children's learning outcomes in recognizing English vocabulary and children were more enthusiastic and active during learning. In the initial condition, children's ability to recognize English vocabulary was still low, namely 60% had not developed (BB), after the use of mystery box media increased as much as 80% of children developed very well (BSB). Based on the results of this research, the use of mystery box media can be used as an alternative and variation of activities in learning, especially to improve the ability to recognize English vocabulary in children.
