Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan beban kognitif dan cognitive anxiety siswa selama mempelajari materi perubahan lingkungan dengan menggunakan strategi Think-Pair-Research-Share (TPRS) dan Think-Pair-Share (TPS). TPRS merupakan pengembangan dari TPS dengan penambahan tahap research, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dan mengurangi beban kognitif serta cognitive anxiety yang timbul selama proses pembelajaran. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah posttest-only control group design, dengan subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas X yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu kelompok kontrol yang diberikan perlakuan TPS dan kelompok eksperimen yang diberikan perlakuan TPRS. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi kuesioner beban kognitif dan kuesioner cognitive anxiety. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan signifikan dalam beban kognitif berupa usaha mental dan hasil belajar, serta cognitive anxiety pada kedua kelompok. Selain itu, ditemukan adanya korelasi positif antara beban kognitif usaha mental dengan cognitive anxiety pada siswa yang menggunakan strategi TPRS, dan korelasi negatif antara beban kognitif hasil belajar dengan cognitive anxiety pada siswa yang menggunakan strategi TPRS. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi TPRS lebih efektif dibandingkan TPS dalam mengurangi beban kognitif dan cognitive anxiety siswa selama pembelajaran perubahan lingkungan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa penambahan tahap research dalam strategi pembelajaran dapat memberikan dampak positif pada psikologis siswa, yang dapat mendukung proses pembelajaran yang lebih efektif. This study aims to compare the cognitive load and cognitive anxiety of students while learning about environmental changes using the Think-Pair-Research-Share (TPRS) and Think-Pair-Share (TPS) strategies. TPRS is an extension of TPS, incorporating a research phase designed to enhance students' learning outcomes while reducing cognitive load and cognitive anxiety during the learning process. The research employed a posttest-only control group design, with the participants being tenth-grade students divided into two groups: a control group that received TPS and an experimental group that received TPRS. The instruments used in this study included a cognitive load questionnaire and a cognitive anxiety questionnaire. The results indicated significant differences in cognitive load, particularly mental effort and learning outcomes, as well as cognitive anxiety, between the two groups. Additionally, a positive correlation was found between mental effort, cognitive load, and cognitive anxiety among students using the TPRS strategy, while a negative correlation was observed between learning outcomes, cognitive load, and cognitive anxiety among students using the TPRS strategy. The findings of this study suggest that the TPRS strategy is more effective than TPS in reducing students' cognitive load and cognitive anxiety during lessons on environmental changes. These results indicate that the inclusion of a research phase in instructional strategies can have a positive impact on students' psychological well-being, thereby supporting a more effective learning process.
