Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa sekolah dasar yang masih tergolong rendah. Berdasarkan studi awal menunjukkan bahwa masih banyak siswa yang belum mampu menyatakan ide matematika dalam bentuk gambar, mengekspresikan konsep matematika dengan menyatakan peristiwa sehari-hari dalam bahasa matematika, serta menjelaskan situasi ke dalam ide matematika secara tulisan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V di SDN Aren Jaya VII. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan yaitu purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 30 siswa. Variabel penelitian yaitu pemahaman konsep matematis sebagai variabel bebas dan komunikasi matematis sebagai variabel terikat. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes pemahaman konsep matematis dan komunikasi matematis. Analisis data pada penelitian ini mencakup analisis statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rho adalah 0,683 yang artinya dikategorikan kuat dengan nilai signifikan yaitu 0,000 < 0,05 yang dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ho ditolak, dan Ha diterima yang artinya terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis dengan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. This study was motivated by the mathematical communication skills of elementary school students who are still relatively low. Based on the initial study, it shows that there are still many students who have not been able to express mathematical ideas in the form of images, express mathematical concepts by stating everyday events in mathematical language, and explain situations into mathematical ideas in writing. This study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between the ability to understand mathematical concepts and mathematical communication skills of fifth grade elementary school students. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population in this study were all fifth grade students at SDN Aren Jaya VII. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample size of 30 students. The research variables are mathematical concept understanding as the independent variable and mathematical communication as the dependent variable. Data collection techniques using mathematical concept understanding and mathematical communication tests. Data analysis in this study includes descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistics. The results showed that the rho value is 0.683 which means it is categorized as strong with a significant value of 0.000 <0.05 which can be concluded that Ho is rejected, and Ha is accepted which means there is a significant relationship between the ability to understand mathematical concepts and mathematical communication skills. So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the ability to understand mathematical concepts and the mathematical communication skills of fifth grade elementary school students.
