Abstract
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan pencapaian motivasi belajar peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen dan peserta didik pada kelas kontrol serta untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan motivasi belajar peserta didik pada kelas eksperimen dan peserta didik pada kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimen. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan desain kelompok kontrol non-ekuivalen pretes-postes. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh peserta didik kelas VIII di salah satu Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri di Kota Bandung. Sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini sebanyak dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data kemampuan komunikasi matematis diperoleh menggunakan tes berbentuk uraian sedangkan data motivasi belajar diperoleh dengan menggunakan angket dengan 11 pernyataan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik yang memperoleh Problem Based Learning lebih tinggi secara signifikan dari peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional; (2) Pencapaian motivasi belajar peserta didik yang memperoleh Problem Based Learning lebih tinggi secara signifikan dari peserta didik yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional; (3) Tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan motivasi belajar peserta didik, baik pada kelas eksperimen maupun kelas kontrol. The purpose of this study is to analyze the improvement of mathematical communication skills and learning motivation achievement of students in the experimental class and students in the control class as well as to determine the correlation between mathematical communication skills and learning motivation of students in the experimental class and students in the control class. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method. In this study, a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design is used. The population of this study are all eight-grade students from Junior High School in Bandung. The sample consist of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class which were selected using the purposive sampling technique. Mathematical communication skills data were obtained using a test in the form of description while learning motivation data ware obtained using questionnaire with 11 statements. The results showed: (1) The improvement of students mathematical communication skills who received Problem Based Learning are significantly higher than students who received conventional learning; (2) Learning motivation achievement of students who received Problem Based Learning are significantly higher than students who received conventional learning; (3) There is no significant correlation between mathematical communication skills and learning motivation of students, both in the experimental class and the control class.
