Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh siswa kelas III sekolah dasar yang belum bisa membuat gambar termasuk gambar ilustrasi, sesuai dengan imajinasinya dan sering membuat gambar berdasarkan contoh untuk ditiru kembali. Disebabkan kurangnya strategi dan stimulus dari guru dalam pembelajaran menggambar, karena kurangnya pemahaman guru mengenai karakteristik gambar anak sesuai perkembangan usia siswa. Karakteristik gambar anak perlu diketahui dan dipahami oleh guru agar dapat menggunakan metode dan strategi pembelajaran seni rupa khususnya menggambar sesuai dengan kondisi siswa, kebutuhan siswa, sesuai dengan perkembangan usia, serta sesuai dengan karakteristik siswa. Sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan karakteristik gambar ilustrasi karya siswa, dilihat berdasarkan periodisasi perkembangan seni rupa anak, karakteristik gambar anak, dan unsur visual gambar ilustrasi karya siswa kelas III sekolah dasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SDN Kananga pada tanggal 16 Mei 2024, dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 17 siswa, 7 siswa laki-laki dan 10 siswi perempuan dengan rentang usia 9-10 tahun. Hasil penelitian diperoleh sebanyak 15 gambar ilustrasi karya siswa, termasuk pada karakteristik tahap bagan, dan 2 siswa termasuk pada tahap realisme permulaan. Sementara karakteristik gambar anak, dari ke 12 kategori ditemukan 6 karakteristik gambar yaitu lyrical, impressionist, structural form, romantic, dan literary. Pada unsur visual secara keseluruhan gambar ilustrasi karya siswa terlihat sudah mampu membuat karya dengan unsur garis, bentuk, dan warna yang lengkap, sesuai dengan periodisasi perkembangan seni rupanya yang cenderung menggunakan garis, bentuk, dan warna yang sederhana. ------------ This research is motivated by third grade elementary school students who cannot yet create drawings including illustrations, according to their imagination and often rely on examples to imitate. Due to a lack of strategies and stimuli from teachers in drawing instruction, because of their isufficient understanding of the characteristics of children’s drawings according to students’ age development. The characteristics of children’s drawings need to be known and understood by teachers in order to use methods and strategies for art education, especially drawing, according to students’ conditions, needs, age development, and characteristics. Therefore, this study aims to analyze and describe the characteristics of student illustration drawings, based on the periodization of children’s art development, children’s drawing characteristics, and the visual elements of student illustration drawings in third grade elementary school. This research was conducted at Kananga Elementary School on May 16, 2024. With total of 17 subjects, 7 male students, and 10 female students aged 9-10 years. The results obtained 15 student illustration drawings, including those at the Schematic Stage, and 2 students at the Dawning Realism Stage. Meanwhile, in terms of children’s drawing characteristics, out of categories, 6 characteristics were found lyrical, impressionist, structural form, romantic, and literary. Overall, the visual elements of student illustration drawings demonstrate the ability to create works with complete elements of lines, shapes, and colors, in line with the periodization of their art development, which needs to use simple lines, shapes, and colors.
