Abstract
Education has a role in national development, which consists of two main components, namely educators and students. Physical education, sports and health are strategic subjects at various levels of education. One effective learning model is Problem Based Learning (PBL) which can increase the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. PBL is considered a solution because it encourages active student participation and helps teachers in managing student-focused learning. This research is experimental research using the "One Groups Pretest-Posttest Design" method at PGRI Klapanunggal Middle School with a total of 224 class VII students. The assessment instrument consists of pre-test and post-test basketball game scores which are analyzed using the Normality test and paired sample t-test. The results of the hypothetical paired sample t-test show a significant increase in basketball passing test performance after implementing PBL. This confirms that effective learning strategies, such as PBL, can significantly improve students' abilities in competitive games. In the national education context, relevant and structured learning approaches are also recognized as being able to make a significant contribution to improving overall student performance.
