Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis adalah upaya siswa menggunakan keterampilan dan pengetahuannya untuk mencari solusi dan mengambil keputusan dari masalah matematika. Setiap siswa memiliki tingkat self-esteem yang berbeda yang dapat meningkatkan pembelajaran matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas XI, self-esteen siswa kelas XI, dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas XI ditinjau dari tingkat self-esteem. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian yaitu 30 siswa kelas XI di salah satu SMA di Kota Bandung yang telah mempelajari materi trigonometri. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu berupa tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, angket self-esteem, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa berada pada kategori sedang dan memiliki tingkat self-esteem sedang. Siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem tinggi dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis tinggi memenuhi semua indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem tinggi dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis sedang memenuhi tiga dari empat indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, dan tidak terdapat siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem tinggi dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis rendah. Siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem sedang dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis tinggi memenuhi seluruh indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem sedang dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis sedang memenuhi tiga dari empat indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem sedang dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis rendah belum memenuhi semua indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem rendah dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis sedang memenuhi tiga dari empat indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem rendah dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis rendah belum memenuhi semua indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, dan tidak terdapat siswa dengan tingkat self-esteem rendah dengan kategori kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis tinggi. Mathematical problem solving ability is a student's effort to use their skills and knowledge to find solutions and make decisions about mathematical problems. Each student has a different level of self-esteem which can improve mathematics learning. This research aims to describe the mathematical problem solving abilities of class XI students, the self-esteem of class XI students, and the mathematical problem solving abilities of class XI students in terms of the level of self-esteem. The method used in this research is a case study with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were 30 class XI students at a high school in Bandung City who had studied trigonometry material. The data collection techniques used were mathematical problem solving ability tests, self-esteem questionnaires, and interview guides. The research results show that the majority of students' mathematical problem solving abilities are in the medium category and have a moderate level of self-esteem. Students with a high level of self-esteem in the category of high mathematical problem solving ability meet all indicators of mathematical problem solving ability, students with a high level of self-esteem in the category of moderate mathematical problem solving ability meet three of the four indicators of mathematical problem solving ability, and there are no students with a high level of self-esteem with a low mathematical problem solving ability category. Students with a moderate level of self-esteem in the category of high mathematical problem solving ability meet all indicators of mathematical problem solving ability, students with a moderate level of self-esteem in the category of moderate mathematical problem solving ability fulfill three of the four indicators of mathematical problem solving ability, students with a low level of self -moderate esteem with low mathematical problem solving ability category does not meet all indicators of mathematical problem solving ability. Students with a low level of self-esteem in the category of moderate mathematical problem solving ability meet three of the four indicators of mathematical problem solving ability, students with a low level of self-esteem in the category of low mathematical problem solving ability do not meet all the indicators of mathematical problem solving ability, and there are none students with low levels of self-esteem with high mathematical problem solving ability categories.
