Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kemandirian belajar terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama, mengetahui kategori kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama pada topik sistem persamaan linear dua variabel, dan mengetahui kecenderungan kemandirian belajar siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis tinggi, sedang, dan rendah pada topik sistem persamaan linear dua variabel. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII tahun ajaran 2023/2024 di salah satu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling sebanyak 151 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah instrumen tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan instrumen non-tes berupa angket kemandirian belajar dan wawancara kemandirian belajar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: (1) terdapat pengaruh kemandirian belajar terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama sebesar 25,7% sedangkan sisanya 74,3% dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain diluar kemandirian belajar; (2) kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama pada topik sistem persamaan linear dua variabel secara umum berada pada kategori sedang; (3) kemandirian belajar pada siswa yang memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis tinggi unggul di dalam aspek self-efficacy, kemandirian belajar pada siswa yang memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis sedang unggul di dalam aspek self-efficacy, dan kemandirian belajar pada siswa yang memiliki kemampuan komunikasi matematis rendah unggul di dalam aspek memilih dan menetapkan strategi dalam belajar. This study aims to determine the effect of learning independence on the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students, determine the category of mathematical communication skills of junior high school students on the topic of two-variable linear equation systems, and determine the tendency of learning independence of junior high school students in terms of high, medium, and low mathematical communication skills on the topic of two-variable linear equation systems. This study used a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The population in this study was the students in the VIII grade for the 2023/2024 school year at one of the public junior high schools in Bandung City. The sampling technique used purposive sampling of 151 students. The instruments used in this study were mathematical communication skills test instruments and non-test instruments in the form of learning independence questionnaires and learning independence interviews. The results of this study showed: (1) there was an influence of learning independence on the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students by 25.7% while the remaining 74.3% was influenced by other factors outside learning independence; (2) the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students on the topic of two-variable linear equation systems were generally in the medium category; (3) learning independence in students who have high mathematical communication skills were superior in aspects of self-efficacy, learning independence in students who have moderate mathematical communication skills were superior in aspects of self-efficacy, and learning independence in students who have low mathematical communication skills were superior in aspects of choosing and setting strategies in learning.
