Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya karakter yang baik di zaman sekarang.
Salahsatu upaya untuk menanganinya yaitu melalui pembelajaran di sekolah. Oleh
karena itu, penelitian ini mempunyai tujuan untuk: (1) menjelaskan mengenai struktur
(tema, fakta cerita, dan sarana sastra) dalam novel Pamanah Rasa karya Yoseph
Iskandar, (2) menganalisis nilai pendidikan karakter (18 nilai pendidikan karakter
menurut Kemendikbud) dalam novel Pamanah Rasa karya Yoseph Iskandar, (3)
penerapan novel Pamanah Rasa karya Yoséph Iskandar sebagai alternatif bahan
pembelajaran di SMA kelas XI. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan menggunakan pendekatan
kualitatif dengan metode perspektif deskriptif analisis. Hasil dari penelitian ini yaitu
struktur cerita dalam novel Pamanah Rasa karya Yoséph Iskandar yang meliputi tema,
fakta cerita dan sarana sastra. Tema dalam novel ini adalah perjalanan Pamanah
Rasa yang dimulai ketika dirinya pergi ke Saung Sanghiyang Linggahiyang, kemudian
dididik di hutan Pagelaran hingga mendapatkan segala macam ilmu perang, ilmu
ketatanegaraan dan kepanditaan, yang dengan ilmunya itu membuat Pamanah Rasa
diangkat menjadi pemimpin di negeri Sindangkasih. Alur yang tergambar dalam novel
adalah maju, terlihat setelah membaca novelnya dengan cermat. Tokoh-tokoh yang
ada dalam novel ini berjumlah lebih dari 52 tokoh. Latar tempat berjumlah 34, latar
waktu berjumlah 16, dan latar suasana berjumlah 38. Gaya bahasa yang digunakan
oleh pengarang berjumlah 25. Adapun sudut pandang yang digunakan oleh pengarang
yaitu sudut pandang orang ketiga. Dalam hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya 18
nilai pendidikan karakter sesuai dengan Kemendikbud. Selanjutnya hasil penelitian ini
diterapkan pada bahan pembelajaran membaca novel di SMA kelas XI.
This research is motivated by the lack of good character today. One of the efforts to deal
with it is through learning at school. Therefore, this study aims to: (1) explain the structure
(themes, story facts, and literary facilities) in the novel Pamanah Rasa by Yoseph Iskandar,
(2) analyze the value of character education (18 values of character education according
to the Ministry of Education and Culture) in the novel Pamanah Rasa by Yoseph Iskandar,
(3) the application of the novel Pamanah Rasa by Yoséph Iskandar as an alternative
learning material in grade XI high school. This research was carried out using a qualitative
approach with a descriptive perspective method of analysis. The result of this research is
the structure of the story in the novel Pamanah Rasa by Yoséph Iskandar which includes
themes, story facts and literary means. The theme in this novel is Pamanah Rasa's journey
which began when he went to Saung Sanghiyang Linggahiyang, then educated in the
Pagelaran forest to get all kinds of war, constitutional and priestly knowledge, which with
his knowledge made Pamanah Rasa appointed as a leader in the country of Sindangkasih.
The plot depicted in the novel is forward. The characters in this novel are more than 52
characters. There are 34 settings, 16 time settings, and 38 settings. The language styles
used by the author number 25. The point of view used by the author is the third-person
point of view. The results showed that there were 18 values of character education in
accordance with the Ministry of Education and Culture. Furthermore, the results of this
study were applied to learning materials for reading novels in high school grade XI.
