Abstract

Kematangan karir seseorang didefinisikan sebagai kemampuan individu untuk
membuat pilihan karir yang tepat, termasuk kesadaran tentang apa yang diperlukan
untuk membuat keputusan karir dan sejauh mana pilihan tersebut realistis dan
konsisten dari waktu ke waktu. Namun, saat ini kebingungan dan ketidaksiapan peserta
didik di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) terhadap karirnya masih kerap terjadi.
Keraguan atau kebingungan tersebut termanifestasikan sebagai kesulitan yang akan
dihadapi ketika menentukan karir. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan
kematangan karir peserta didik serta mengeksplorasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi
kesulitan peserta didik di SMK dalam mempersiapkan karirnya. Pendekatan penelitian
yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Teknik yang digunakan untuk
memilih partisipan ialah purposive sampling, dan terpilih empat partisipan dengan kajian
tidak formal. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari keempat partisipan, hanya satu
partisipan saja yang sudah menunjukkan pada tingkat kematangan karir yang tinggi
ditandai dengan memiliki pengetahuan diri, pengetahuan tentang pekerjaan, mampu
memilih dan memutuskan lanjutan pendidikan dan pekerjaannya dan mampu menentukan
langkah-langkah mencapai pilihan karirnya. Faktor dominan yang mempengaruhi kesulitan
keempat partisipan dalam mencapai kematangan karirnya yaitu faktor bio-sosial yang
ditandai dengan masih adanya keraguan dalam merencanakan karir dan menentukan
pilihan karirnya serta informasi karir yang masih kurang. Deskripsi komprehensif yang
telah dipaparkan dalam skripsi ini menjadi dasar dalam pembuatan booklet karir untuk
peserta didik guna membantu peserta didik di sekolah dalam mencapai kematangan
karirnya. Maka dari itu, peran guru BK di sekolah sangat diperlukan untuk dapat
memberikan layanan baik klasikal maupun responsif guna meningkatkan kematangan karir
peserta didik di sekolah.

A person's career maturity is defined as an individual's ability to make the right career
choice, including awareness of what is required to make career decisions and the extent to
which these choices are realistic and consistent over time. However, currently students in
Vocational High Schools (SMK) are still confused and unprepared for their careers. Doubt
or confusion is manifested as difficulties that will be faced when determining a career. This
study aims to describe the career maturity of students and explore the factors that influence
the difficulties of students in vocational schools in preparing for their careers. The research
approach used is qualitative with the case study method. The technique used to select
participants was purposive sampling, and four participants were selected with an informal
study. The research findings show that out of the four participants, only one participant
has shown a high level of career maturity characterized by having self-knowledge,
knowledge about work, being able to choose and decide on further education and work and
being able to determine the steps to reach their career choice. The dominant factor
influencing the difficulty of the four participants in achieving career maturity is the bio�social factor which is characterized by the persistence of doubts in planning a career and
determining career choices as well as the lack of career information. The comprehensive
description that has been presented in this thesis forms the basis for making a career
booklet for students to help students at school achieve career maturity. Therefore, the role
of the counseling teacher in schools is needed to be able to provide both classical and
responsive services in order to increase the career maturity of students in schools.
