Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh adanya beberapa permasalahan membaca permulaan yang ditemukan di kelas 1 sekolah dasar. Permasalahan tersebut yaitu: 1) kesulitan menjawab soal pada bagian membunyikan kata-kata yang diakhiri oleh bunyi yang serupa (rhyme), 2) belum mengetahui kata dan suku kata (word and syllable segmenting), 3) kesulitan mengidentifikasi bunyi fonem individu di awal kata (phonemes isolation), 4) kesulitan saat diminta mengganti suatu huruf pada kata-kata yang disediakan (phonemes manipulating), 5) sulit membedakan huruf-huruf yang bentuknya hampir sama seperti “b dan d”, “m, n, dan w”, serta “p dan q” (alphabet knowledge), 6) kesulitan mencocokkan kata dengan bunyi yang sesuai saat ada beberapa opsi kata (phonics), dan 7) belum bisa membedakan gambar, kata, dan huruf (print awareness). Dengan demikian, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengaruh dari penggunaan aplikasi Secil Membaca dan mengidentifikasi perbedaannya dengan media puzzle huruf. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen jenis non-randomized control group pretest and posttest design. Sampel yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas I-A SD Negeri Bangkir dan kelas I-A SD Negeri Bunter III sebanyak 20 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) rerata (mean) nilai di kelas eksperimen pada pre-test berada di angka 12,15 sedangkan untuk rerata nilai post-test berada di angka 17,60. Dengan demikian, persentase peningkatan keterampilan membaca permulaan di kelas eksperimen adalah sebesar 44,85% yang berada dalam kriteria cukup efektif. Sehingga dapat diketahui bahwa aplikasi Secil Membaca berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan keterampilan membaca permulaan di SD Negeri Bangkir. 2) nilai post-test kelas eksperimen adalah 17,60 sedangkan kelas kontrol 16,40 sehingga terlihat adanya perbedaan antara siswa kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol. Hal tersebut dibuktikan juga oleh nilai signifikansi (two-sided p) sejumlah 0,030 yang artinya lebih kecil dari 0,05 maka Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Dengan demikian, dapat dibuktikan adanya perbedaan keterampilan membaca permulaan antara siswa kelas eksperimen dengan siswa kelas kontrol setelah masing-masing kelas diberikan perlakuan. ---------- This research is motivated by the existence of several problems of beginning reading found in grade 1 of elementary school. These problems are: 1) difficulty answering questions on the part of sounding words ending in a similar sound (rhyme), 2) not knowing words and syllables (word and syllable segmenting), 3) difficulty identifying individual phoneme sounds at the beginning of words (phonemes isolation), 4) difficulty when asked to replace a letter in the provided words (phonemes manipulating), 5) difficulty distinguishing letters that are almost the same in shape as "b and d", "m, n, and w", and "p and q" (al phabet knowledge), 6) difficulty matching words with the appropriate sounds when there are several word options (phonics), and 7) unable to distinguish between pictures, words, and letters (print awareness). Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of using the Secil Membaca application and identify the differences with the letter puzzle media. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental non-randomized control group pretest and posttest design. The sample chosen in this study was class I-A at SD Negeri Bangkir and class I-A at SD Negeri Bunter III with a total of 20 students. The results showed that 1) the average (mean) score in the experimental class in the pre-test was at 12,15 while for the post-test the average value was at 17,60. Therefore, the percentage of improvement in beginning reading skills in the experimental class was 44.85% which was in the criteria of being quite effective. So it can be seen that the Secil Membaca application has an effect on improving initial reading skills at SD Negeri Bangkir. 2) the post-test score of the experimental class was 17.60 while that of the control class was 16.40 so that there was a difference between students in the experimental class and the control class. This is also evidenced by the significance value (two-sided p) of 0.030, which means that it is smaller than 0.05, so Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. Thus, it can be proven that there are differences in initial reading skills between students in the experimental class and students in the control class after each class is given treatment.
