Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui penguasaan konsep IPA dan kemampuan menjelaskan perpindahan zat pencemar mahasiswa PGSD melalui implementasi pembelajaran Read-Answer-Discuss-Explain-and Create (RADEC). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain the matching-only pretest-posttest control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah 64 mahasiswa mengikuti pembelajaran RADEC, dan 60 mahasiswa mengikuti pembelajaran inovatif lain, yaitu Project Based Learning (PjBL). Semua mahasiswa tersebut adalah mahasiswa program studi PGSD salah satu universitas di kota Sumedang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi keterlaksanaan, soal 4-tier diagnostic test penguasaan konsep IPA, soal kemampuan menjelaskan perpindahan zat pencemar, dan angket tanggapan pembelajaran. Pengolahan data menggunakan uji statistik dengan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan RADEC lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan penguasaan konsep IPA dan kemampuan menjelaskan perpindahan zat pencemar pada mahasiswa PGSD dari pada penerapan model pembelajaran PjBL. ;--- The research was aimed to find out prospective elementary school teachers' scientific conceptual understanding and their skill to explain environmental pollution through Read-Answer-Discuss-Explain-and Create (RADEC) learning model implementation. This research used a quasi-experimental method with the matching-only pretest-posttest control group design. The subject of the study, 64 student attend RADEC learning, and 60 students attend another model, that is Project Based Learning (PjBL), all students are prospective elementary school teachers’ one of univerisities in the city of Sumedang. The research instrument used was observation sheets, 4-tier diagnostic test of scientific conceptual understading, capability of explain evironmental pollution test, and response study questionnaire. Data processing used statistic test with SPSS program. The results showed that the implementation of RADEC effective in improving scientific conceptual understanding and their skill explain environmental pollution on prospective elementary school teachers’ than of PjBL learning model implementation.
