Abstract

Abstract: This research is motivated by the problems of students in grade III of elementary school. The problem is the low attitude of student learning independence due to students not yet aware of the obligations that must be fulfilled, such as lack of student responsibility in carrying out their duties. In addition, the lack of confidence, initiative, discipline and motivation, further strengthens that students have low learning independence. This study aims to improve student learning independence through the application of somatic, auditory, visual and intellectual (SAVI) learning approaches. The research method used was classroom action research (PTK) with the Kemmis and Mc models. Tagart which carried out two cycles consisted of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. Data collection is done through an observation analysis of student learning independence attitudes during the learning process with five indicators of student learning independence attitudes. The completeness of the learning attitude of the students in the first cycle was 73% and increased in the second cycle by 16% to 89%. The results of this study indicate that the use of somatic, auditory, visual and intellectual (SAVI) learning approaches can improve students' learning independence attitudes in elementary schools. Keywords: SAVI approach, learning independence
