Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan karena terdapat masalah yang dihadapi dalam pembelajaran IPS di SMP yang belum optimal. Pembelajaran yang selama ini diterapkan belum bisa memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap peningkatan kepekaan sosial siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kepekaan sosial siswa. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan (R&D). Subjek penelitian adalah guru IPS dan siswa kelas delapan pada dua belas SMP di 12 kecamatan wilayah Kabupaten Garut. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, observasi, studi dokumentasi, wawancara dan skala sikap. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Pearson Product-Moment Correlation, Cronbach’s Alpha (α), Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test, Lavene test, t-test, uji Wilcoxon, dan Uji mann Whitney. Hasil Uji Validasi menunjukkan skor gain kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan skor gain kelompok kontrol pada SMP kategori sanga baik., baik dan sedang. Temuan ini menghasilkan kesimpulan bahwa Model Pembelajaran Investigasi Kelompok (MPIK) sebagai model hasil pengembangan efektif untuk meningkatkan kepekaan sosial siswa. Hal ini didukung oleh faktor: (a) desain model yang memberikan gambaran yang secara jelas tentang skenario pembelajaran; (b) implementasi pembelajaran yang berbasis dinamika kelompok; dan (c) lebih mengutamakan evaluasi berbasis sikap. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, direkomendasikan kepada pengawas dan kepala sekolah untuk memfasilitasi dan sosialisasi MPIK kepada guru dalam mengimplementasikan kurikulum khususnya kurikulum mata pelajaran IPS. Untuk guru model MPIK dapat dijadikan pengalaman melaksanakan pembelajaran yang efektif dalam upaya memperbaiki kualitas pembelajaran. Untuk peneliti selanjutnya disarankan dapat mengembangkan model ini pada fase perkembangan psikologis dan setting lingkungan subjek penelitian pada lingkup jenjang pendidikan yang lebih tinggi atau rendah. ---------- The research was conducted due to the problem faced in social science at Junior School that was considered insufficiently optimal. The existing learning, so far, has not been positively contributive to the improvement of social awarness of the students. This research was aimed to produce instructional model that could increase students social awarness. To achieve the research objective, research and development method was utilized. The research subjects were the social science teachers and the eigth grade students 12 Junior Hight Schools at 12 sub-districts in Garut Regency. The instruments used to gain data were questionnary, observation, document, interview and attitude scale. Data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation, Cronbach’s Alpha (α), Kolmogorov Smirnov Test, Lavene test, t-test, Wilcoxon test, and Mann-Whitney test. The result of validity test indicated that the score gain of experimental group is higher than that of the control group in junior high schools that were categorized as excellent, good and average. The findings led to the conclusion that Group Investigation Instructional Model was determined as model of effective development result to improve students social awareness. This result was supported by some factors: (a) design model that gave a clear overview related to learning scenario, (b) the learning implementation on the basis of group dynamics, and (c) more priority on attitude-based evaluation. Based on the research result, it is recommended that the supervisors and school headmaters to facilitate and socialized Group Investigation Instructional Models to the teachers in implementing the curriculum, especially social science curriculum. For the teachers, this model can be used as an experience in implementing effective learning in improving learning quality. For future researchers, it is suggested that this model can be developed in psychological development phase and the scope of the setting of the research subject in higher or lower level education.
