Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan upaya peningkatan pemahaman konsep dalam pembelajaran IPA melalui penerapan pendekatan kontekstual pada siswa kelas IV di salah satu sekolah dasar di Kota Bandung pada Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015. Permasalahan yang ingin dijawab dalam penelitian ini adalah (1) Bagaimanakah proses pembelajaran IPA dengan menerapkan pendekatan kontekstual untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa sekolah dasar? (2) Bagaimanakah peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa sekolah dasar dengan menerapkan pendekatan kontekstual pada pembelajaran IPA? Untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut maka peneliti melakukan pengamatan dan mengukur kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa menggunakan soal evaluasi dan lembar kerja siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah pembelajaran kontekstual dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa sekolah dasar di Kota Bandung pada Tahun Ajaran 2014/2015. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pada siklus I kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa meningkat dari pra siklus yang dilakukan sebelumnya. Rata-rata kelas yang dicapai pada saat prasiklus, yaitu 49,78 meningkat setelah diterapkannya pendekatan kontekstual menjadi 69,8 dengan 6 siswa berkemampuan tinggi, 15 siswa berkemampuan sedang, dan 3 siswa berkemampuan rendah. Setelah dilaksanakan siklus ke II maka rata-rata kelas meningkat menjadi 80,18. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan kontekstual dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep siswa. Kata Kunci : Pemahaman Konsep, Pembelajaran IPA, Pendekatan Kontekstual This study is an effort to improve understanding of concepts in science learning applying of contextual approach to the fourth grade students in one elementary school in Bandung on the academic year 2014/2015. Issues to be answered in this study were (1) How is the process of learning science by applying a contextual approach to improve understanding of the concept of primary school students? (2) How is the increased ability of primary school students' understanding of concepts by applying a contextual approach in science teaching? To answer these questions, the researchers observed and measured the ability of understanding the concept of using the matter of evaluation of students and student worksheet. The purpose of this study was to determine whether contextual learning can improve understanding of the concept of elementary school students in Bandung in School Year 2014/2015. Results from this study indicate that in the first cycle of students increased ability of understanding the concept of pre-cycles. The average grade achieved during pre-cycles, only 49.78. After the implementation of a contextual approach, grade increased to 69.8 with 6 high-ability students, 15 students capable of being, and 3 low-ability students. Once executed cycle II, the average grade increased to 80.18. This study was suggests that the contextual approach can improve students understanding of the concept.
