    Abstract

South Korea, located at a mid-latitude, experiences distinct four seasons. To ensure the safety and security of its citizens and tourists, the South Korean government regularly disseminates safety information texts. However, comprehending these texts requires an understanding of Korean weather and climate terms. In light of this, the author undertook a research study to facilitate the comprehension of the morphosemantics of such terms. This study analyzed 150 Korean weather and climate terms extracted from the Korean drama "Forecasting Love and Weather" (episodes 1-8) using a descriptive qualitative method. The research findings revealed that weather and climate elements-related terms were the most frequently occurred category among the types of terms analyzed. In terms of word formation, inflected words were the most prominent, often derived from Korean language borrowed from Chinese. Additionally, this study found that words with no meaning shift in their word formation were the most commonly observed category. In conclusion, this study highlights the utility of dramas as a resource for grasping important weather and climate terms, which exhibit specific word forms, word formations, and meaning shifts. By leveraging such popular media sources, individuals can enhance their understanding of these crucial terms and contribute to ensuring their safety and preparedness in South Korea's diverse weather conditions.
