Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena masa covid-19 yang terjadi dan menyebabkan penurunan keterampilan sosial peserta didik, karena pembelajaran yang dilakukan secara daring. Hal tersebut memunculkan permasalahan bahwa peserta didik merasa kesulitan memahami materi pada mata pelajaran IPS serta interaksi sosial yang kurang dengan teman sebaya. Tujuan penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui perbedaan efektif atau tidaknya penggunaan model project based learning terhadap keterampilan sosial peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPS di SMPN 4 Cianjur. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, dengan rancangan noneequivalent control group design. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuisioner yang disebarkan pada sampel penelitian yaitu kelas VII-A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VII-C sebagai kelas kontrol. Teknik analisis menggunakan uji hipotesis, uji-t, dan uji beda. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa (1) penggunaan model project based learning di kelas eksperimen terdapat perbedaan terhadap keterampilan sosial pada mata pelajaran IPS. (2) penggunaan model konvensional di kelas kontrol terdapat perbedaan terhadap keterampilan sosial pada mata pelajaran IPS. (3) tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Namun, perbedaan tersebut dapat terlihat dari adanya angket respon peserta didik terhadap model project based learning dengan hasil 87% yang mendapatkan respon positif dari peserta didik. Penggunaan model ini dapat digunakan dalam meningkatkan keterampilan sosial yang dapat membuat peserta didik cenderung lebih aktif. Background of this research is Covid-19 period that occurred and caused a decrease in the social skills of students, due to the learning that carried out boldly. New problem raises, students find it difficult to understand social studies subject matter and lack of social interaction with peers. The purpose of the study to determine whether or not the effectiveness of using project based learning models on the social skills of students in IPS class SMPN 4 Cianjur. The research method uses a quantitative approach, with a nonequivalent control group design. Data collection technique used a questionnaire distributed to the research sample, class VII-A as the experimental class and VII-C as the control class. Analysis technique uses hypothesis testing, t-test, and different tests. Results showed that (1) the use of the project based learning model in the experimental class had differences in social skills in social studies subjects. (2) the use of conventional models in the control class on differences in social skills in social studies subjects. (3) there is no significant difference between the experimental class and the control class. This difference can be seen from the students response questionnaire to the project based learning model with the results of 87% getting a positive response from students. The use of this model can be used to improve social skills that can make students tend to be more active.
