Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi konsep-konsep geometri yang terdapat pada ornamen-ornamen masjid. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode etnografi. Lokasi penelitian adalah Masjid Nabawi Madinah, Masjid Raya Bandung, Masjid Agung Kota Cimahi, Masjid Al Irsyad Satya Padalarang, dan Masjid Al Safar Purwakarta. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan kerangka penelitian etnomatematika yang diawali dengan empat pertanyaan umum yaitu “di mana mulai mengamatinya?”, “bagaimana cara mengamatinya?”, “apa yang ditemukan?”, dan “apa artinya?”. Peneliti berperan sebagai instrumen pengumpul data. Teknik triangulasi digunakan untuk menghasilkan data yang valid yang dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumen, dan kajian pustaka. Kondensasi data, tampilan data, dan penarikan kesimpulan digunakan untuk menganalisis data penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Masjid Nabawi Madinah, Masjid Raya Bandung, Masjid Agung Kota Cimahi, Masjid Al Irsyad Satya Padalarang, dan Masjid Al Safar Purwakarta memiliki nilai-nilai spiritual dan nilai-nilai budaya dan ornamen-ornamennya memiliki konsep-konsep geometri meliputi bangun datar, bangun ruang, geometri transformasi, pola frieze, dan pola wallpaper. Ornamen-ornamen masjid dapat dikonstruksi menggunakan konsep-konsep geometri. Selain itu, permasalahan-permasalahan geometri kontekstual dan bahan ajar geometri dapat disusun berdasarkan ornamen-ornamen masjid. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ornamen-ornamen pada Masjid Nabawi Madinah, Masjid Raya Bandung, Masjid Agung Kota Cimahi, Masjid Al Irsyad Satya Padalarang, dan Masjid Al Safar Purwakarta kaya akan konsep-konsep geometri. Oleh karena itu, ornamen-ornamen masjid tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif sumber belajar bagi siswa dalam pembelajaran matematika khususnya pada materi geometri. This study uses qualitative research with ethnographic methods. The research locations were the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Grand Mosque of Bandung, Great Mosque of Cimahi, Al Irsyad Satya Padalarang Mosque, and Al Safar Purwakarta Mosque. This study uses an ethnomathematical research framework that begins with four general questions, namely "where to start observing?", "how to observe?", "what is it?", and "what does it mean?". The researcher acts as a data collection instrument. The triangulation technique is used to generate valid data through observation, interviews, documents, and literature review. Data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing were used to analyze the research data. The results showed that the ornaments of the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Grand Mosque of Bandung, Great Mosque of Cimahi, Al Irsyad Satya Padalarang Mosque, and Al Safar Purwakarta Mosque have spiritual values and cultural values and the ornaments have geometry concepts including plane geometry, space geometry, transformation geometry, frieze patterns, and wallpaper patterns. Mosque ornaments can be constructed using geometry concepts. In addition, contextual geometry problems and geometry teaching materials can be created based on mosque ornaments. This shows that the ornaments on the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, Grand Mosque of Bandung, Great Mosque of Cimahi, Al Irsyad Satya Padalarang Mosque, and Al Safar Mosque in Purwakarta are rich in geometry concepts. Therefore, the mosque ornaments can be used as an alternative source of learning for students in learning mathematics, especially geometry material.
