Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa kelas VA salah satu SD Negeri Kecamatan Jatiluhur, Purwakarta. Solusi dari permasalahan ini yaitu dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Accelerated Learning tipe MESSAGE. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas guru dan siswa selama proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Accelerated Learning tipe MESSAGE serta mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa setelah menerapkan model pembelajaran Accelerated Learning tipe MESSAGE. Accelerated Learning tipe MESSAGE merupakan model pembelajaran yang menjadikan kegiatan pembelajaran mudah dan menyenangkan. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian Kemmis & Mc Taggart sebanyak 2 siklus. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 38 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu lembar observasi dan tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan aktivitas guru dan belajar siswa saat menerapkan model pembelajaran Accelerated Learning tipe MESSAGE. Aktivitas guru pada siklus I mencapai rata-rata persentase 74,10% dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 88,39%. Aktivitas belajar siswa pada siklus I mencapai persentase 72,88% dan meningkat pada siklus II menjadi 87,85%. Kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa juga meningkat dilihat dari hasil nilai rata-rata kelas pada siklus I yaitu 70,9 dan pada siklus II menjadi 81,4 serta telah melampaui ketuntasan belajar klasikal yang ditetapkan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Accelerated Learning tipe MESSAGE berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa sekolah dasar. Bagi yang berniat menerapkan model pembelajaran yang sama maka perlu untuk mempelajari dan memahami model pembelajaran tersebut. ----- This research is motivated by the low ability of mathematical understanding of students in class VA one of the SD Negeri Jatiluhur, Purwakarta. The solution to this problem is by applying the MESSAGE type of Accelerated Learning model. This study aims to determine the activities of teachers and students during the learning process by applying the MESSAGE type of Accelerated Learning learning model and to find out the increase in students' mathematical understanding abilities after applying the MESSAGE type of Accelerated Learning learning model. Accelerated Learning MESSAGE type is a learning model that makes learning activities easy and fun. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research design of 2 cycles by Kemmis & Mc Taggart. The research subjects consisted of 38 students. The instruments used are observation sheets and tests. The results showed an increase in teacher activity and student learning when applying the MESSAGE type of Accelerated Learning learning model. Teacher activity in the first cycle reached an average percentage of 74.10% and increased in the second cycle to 88.39%. Student learning activities in the first cycle reached a percentage of 72.88% and increased in the second cycle to 87.85%. The students' mathematical understanding ability also increased as seen from the results of the average class score in the first cycle, which was 70.9 and in the second cycle it became 81.4 and had exceeded the specified classical learning mastery. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the MESSAGE type of Accelerated Learning learning model succeeded in increasing the mathematical understanding ability of elementary school students. For those who intend to apply the same learning model, it is necessary to study and understand the learning model.
