Abstract

Penelitian ini secara teoretis dilandaskan pada perkembangan psikologi remaja sebagai masa transisi yang ditandai perubahan aspek biologis, psikologis, dan sosial. Secara empiris penelitian ini didasarkan atas meningkatnya fenomena kecenderungan kenakalan remaja karena ketidakmampuan para remaja awal untuk bersikap asertif sehingga kepribadiannya menjadi lemah dan sering terjerumus ke dalam hal-hal yang negatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana lingkungan dan media massa memiliki pengaruh terhadap perilaku asertif dan kecenderungan kenakalan remaja pada Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri (SMP N) di Provinsi Jawa Barat. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan kuesioner terhadap 458 responden yang tersebar di sejumlah SMP N di Jawa Barat. Penentuan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik stratified random sampling. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis melalui Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) dengan pengujian dua tahap yaitu measurement model dan structural model menggunakan aplikasi software Analysis Moment of Structure (AMOS), Statistical Passage for Social Science (SPSS), dan Microsoft Excel. Hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa tidak semua pernyataan hipotetik yang diajukan berpengaruh signifikan. Dari keempat variabel eksogen, yaitu (1) pola asuh, (2) lingkungan sekolah, (3) persepsi peserta didik tentang pembelajaran IPS, dan (4) media massa berpengaruh signifikan terhadap perilaku asertif peserta didik. Dari keempat variabel eksogen tersebut, hanya variabel lingkungan sekolah yang tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap variabel kecenderungan kenakalan remaja. Pernyataan hipotetik tentang pengaruh perilaku asertif terhadap kecenderungan kenakalan remaja berpengaruh signifikan dapat diterima. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah meningkatnya perilaku asertif peserta didik ternyata dapat menurunkan kecenderungan kenakalan remaja. ABSTRACT This study was theoretically based on the adolescent psychological development as a transition period which is marked by changes in biological, psychological, and social aspects. Empirically, the increasing trend of juvenile delinquency phenomenon is caused by the inability of the early adolescents to be assertive that their personality became weak, and they can easily fall into negative things. This study was aimed to determine the extent to which environment and mass media have the influence on assertive behaviour and juvenile delinquency trend in Junior High School in West Java Province. The data were collected through questionnaires to 458 respondents that spread across a number of Junior High Schools in West Java. Samples were chosen by using stratified random sampling technique. Data were analyzed by using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with two-stages testing: measurement model and structural model, using Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS), Statistical Passage for Social Science (SPSS) and Microsoft Excel. The results of this study proved that not all hypothetical statements submitted have significant effects. The four exogenous variables, which are parenting, school environment, students’ perceptions about learning social studies, and mass media have a significant effect on students’ assertive behaviour. It is only school environment variable has no significant effect on the variable of juvenile delinquency trend. Hypothetical statements stating that the effect of assertive behaviour toward the trend of juvenile delinquency has significant effect was accepted. The finding can be concluded that the increasing assertive behavior can reduce juvenile delinquency trend.
