Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kesulitan siswa dalam menulis khususnya menulis karangan déskripsi. Masalah yang diteliti dalam skripsi ini yaitu menguji keefektifan model Writing Workshop dalam pembelajaran menulis karangan deskripsi, sedangkan tujuan penelitiannya mendeskripsikan (a)kemampuan siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis karangan deskripsi di kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model Writing Workshop; (b) kemampuan siswadalam pembelajaran menulis karangan deskripsi yang menggunakan model konvensional; (c) perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen murni, dengan desain pre test and post test control group design, dengan teknik penelitian yang digunakan adalah teknik tes dan angket. Temuan penelitiannya adalah: (1) kemampuan awal (pre-test)menulis karangan deskripsi di kelas eksperimen yaitu belum mampu(67,73) sedangkan kemampuan ahir(post-test)setelah menggunakan model Writing Workshopmenjadi mampu (78,60)(2) kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi di kelas kontrol hasil pre-testnyabelum mampu (67,50) sedangkan hasil post-testnya menjadi mampu(73,40)(3) ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi di kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrolberdasarkan hasil analisis hasil ttest (titung (3,46) > ttabél (1,663)). Dengan demikian, hipotesis dalam penelitian ini yaitu model pembelajaran Writing Workshop bisa meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis karangan déskripsi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 14 Kota Sukabumi dibandingkan model konvénsional. Berdasarkan hasil di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Writing Workshop efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis karangan deskripsi siswa kelas VII SMPN 14 Sukabumi tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Sarannya model Writing Workshop bisa dijadikan salah satu alternatif model dalam pembelajaran menulis. Abstract This research is motivated by the difficulty students in writing essays description. Problems examined in this paper is to test the effectiveness of a Writing Workshop model in teaching writing essays desciption, whereas the purpose of the research was to describe (a) Learning ability of students in writing essays description in experimental class using the Writing Workshop model; (b) Learning ability of students in writing essays in class experiments using conventional model; (c) Significant differences between the ability to write essays description in the experimental class and the control class. The kind of method in this research is Purely experimental method, with pre test and post test control group design, and the techniques of research is questionnaire technique and test. The result of this research are (1) ability in writing essays description in experimental class is pre-test 67.73 (unable) whereas after using Writing Workshop model, post-test is 78.60 (able). (2) ability in writing essays description in control class is pre-test 67.50 (unable) whereas post-test result is 73.40 (able) (3) Significant differences between the ability to write essays in the experimental class and the control class based on the analysis resukt is hasil ttest (titung (3,46) > ttabél (1,663)). Thus, the hypothesis in this research is Writing Workshop model can improve the ability of SMPN 14 Sukabumi students in grade VII in writing essays description compared to conventional model. Based on the results it can be conclude that Writing Workshop model is effective in improving ability of SMPN 14 Sukabumi students in grade VII academic year 2013/2014 to write essays description. As a suggestion, Writing Workshop models can be used as an alternative model in learning to write essays.
