Abstract
Keberadaan anak berbakat terasa semakin mendapatkan perhatian dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan pendidikannya. Hal ini terbukti banyak sekolah yang menyelenggarakan kelas akselerasi. Akselerasi dibentuk dan diselenggarakan oleh beberapa sekolah untuk menjawab kebutuhan layanan pendidikan kepada anak-anak berbakat. Masalahnya adalah apakah penyelenggaraan kelas akselerasi memberi dampak positif terhadap perkembangan sosial dan emosi atau hanya pada aspek perkembangan akademis semata. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penyelenggaraan kelas akselerasi memiliki dampak terhadap kematangan aspek sosial dan emosi anak berbakat di SDN Banjarsari Bandung. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif naturalistic dimana sifat pendekatan yang digunakan lebih ditekankan kepada sifat alamiah, spontan dan wajar. Data yang dikumpulkan secara langsung di lapangan dilakukan peneliti sendiri selaku instrument. Analisis data dilakukan secara deduktif, dan untuk keabsahan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi data. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa penyelenggaraan kelas akselerasi tidak memiliki dampak negatif terhadap kematangan sosial dan emosi siswa berbakat di SDN Banjarsari Bandung. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan adanya data hasil wawancara dan observasi serta studi dokumentasi yang menunjukkan bahwa penyelenggaraan kelas akselerasi tidak berdampak negatif bagi kematangan sosial dan emosi siswa berbakat Kata Kunci : anak berbakat, kelas akselerasi, kematangan sosial dan emosi Providing the education need for gifted and talented children get more attention nowadays. The existence of acceleration classes in many school is a real proof of it. Some schools hold and establish acceleration class for the purpose of providing gifted and talented children need. The problem is; does the acceleration class give positive effect to social and emotional development of children or does it only concern with academic aspect. The aim of this research is to find out whether or not acceleration class effect to the social and emotional maturation of gifted and talented children at SDN Banjarsari, Bandung. The research methods used is qualitative naturalistic approach is used where concerned with the nature, spontaneous and genuine approach. Data is collected directly by the reasercher herself as the instrument. Furthermore, the obtained data is analyzed deductively and triangulation is used for the data validity testing. The result of this research shows that acceleration class does not give any negative effect on the social and emotional maturation of the gifted and talented children at SDN Banjarsari. This result is supported by the data from the interview, observation and documentation. Keywords : gifted , accelerated classes , social and emotional maturity
