Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan serat sisal terhadap sifat mekanis mortar berupa kuat tekan, kuat belah (splitting), dan kuat lentur. Serat sisal ini digunakan dengan pertimbangan dapat menanggulangi kelemahan mortar yang bersifat getas serta memiliki kuat tarik kecil dikarenakan serat sisal mempunyai nilai kuat tarik yang cukup tinggi. Pada penelitian ini campuran mortar yang digunakan adalah 1 semen : 4 pasir, dengan persentase penambahan serat sisal adalah 0%, 1%, 3%, dan 5% dari berat semen, sedangkan panjang serat yang digunakan yaitu 3 – 4 cm. Pengujian dilakukan pada umur 7, 14, dan 28 hari untuk uji tekan, sedangkan untuk uji kuat belah dan kuat lentur pengujian hanya dilakukan pada umur 28 hari. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kekuatan tekan mortar mengalami penurunan, sedangkan untuk kuat belah (splitting) dan kuat lentur mengalami kenaikan. Kenaikan kuat belah berturut-turut adalah 4.116%, 6.901%, dan 151.211%. Sedangkan kenaikan kuat lentur berturut-turut sebagai berikut 38.951%, 96.005%, dan 232.584%. Nilai kuat tekan rata-rata terbesar yaitu 15.200 MPa. Sedangkan nilai kuat belah rata-rata terbesar adalah 1.032 MPa. Adapun untuk nilai kuat lentur rata-rata paling tinggi yaitu 2.664 MPa. ABSTRACT This research was conducted to determine the effect of the addition of sisal fibers on mechanical properties of mortar such as compressive strength, splitting, and flexural strength. Sisal fiber is used in consideration to overcome mortar weaknesses like its brittle and has a low tensile strength, because the tensile strength value of sisal fiber is high enough. On this research, the proportion of mortar are 1 cement : 4 sand aggregate with variation in the percentage of sisal fiber addition is 0%, 1%, 3%, and 5% by weight of cement, and the length of sisal fiber used is 3 – 4 cm. Tests performed at the age of 7, 14, and 28 days to pressure test, while for splitting test and flexural strength testing only at the age of 28 days. The results showed the compressive strength of mortar has decreased, while the splitting and flexural strength increased. Compressive strength gains consecutive sides are 4.116%, 6.901%, and 24.939%. While the increase in flexural strength following consecutive 38.951%, 96.005%, and 232.584%. The value of compressive strength maximum are 15.200. While the splitting value maximum is 1.032 MPa. As for the value of the maximum flexural strength is 2.664 MPa. Keywords: sisal fiber, mortar, compressive strength, splitting, flexural strength.
