Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of instructional media by Islamic Education teachers in the learning process which plays an important role in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of learning. In teaching and learning activities, educational media in general have the use of overcoming barriers to communication, physical limitations in class, passive attitudes of students, and unifying their observations. The reality in the field proves that one of the factors that are the problem of Islamic Education teachers is the lack of creativity and innovation in the use of instructional media, so it is necessary for researchers to develop learning media for Islamic Education based on m-learning on smart devices with Android OS. This research specifically aims to describe the development of Islamic Mobile Learning (IML) Islamic Religious Education as an alternative media in teaching and learning activities of Islamic Education in Senior High Schools. This type of research is R&D (Research and Development) research with several stages, namely potentials and problems, data collection, product design, and design validation. Researchers are a key instrument in research. Data collection using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Researchers also collected data needs by using library research. The results of the study concluded that according to the media experts, the media products that had been designed were suitable as learning media for Islamic Education in schools with a percentage of 87.50%, while according to the material experts, the content of the material in media products was by the 2013 curriculum so that it was suitable for use in learning with a percentage of 89.77. %. Then the teachers of Islamic Education welcomed the IML application with an eligibility proportion of 87.93% with very feasible criteria. and responses from 10 students found that 52% of students strongly agree and 48% of students agree to use the Islamic Mobile Learning (IML) application as a learning media for Islamic Education, they are very enthusiastic about learning media that has been developed for use in learning activities at school.
