    Abstract

    Fuel Cells merupakan salah satu device yang dapat mengubah energi kimiawi dari fuel menjadi energi listrik. Fuel Cell dapat digunakan sebagai pengganti energi fosil karena dapat menghasilkan energi listrik yang bersih. Salah satu jenis fuel cell yang sering dijadikan bahan penelitian adalah Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). Komponen utama dalam SOFC dimana perubahan energi terjadi adalah elektrolit padat. Zirkon merupakan material paling umum yang sering dijadikan bahan penelitian terkait elektrolit padat SOFC. Dalam penelitian kali ini, Zirkonia yang digunakan sebelumnya telah disintesis dari bahan dasar pasir zirkon (ZrSiO4). Hasil akhir yang didapat setelah proses sintesis berupa Zr(OH)4 dengan impuritas dibawah 90%. CaO Stabilized Zircon (CSZ) diekstraksi menggunakan metode kopresipitasi dengan komposisi 18wt% CaO dan 82wt% Zr(OH)4. Serbuk CSZ yang didapat di kompaksi dengan tekanan 3,2 ton/m2 kemudian di sintering pada suhu 1200°C, 1150°C, 1100°C. Pelet CSZ setelah di sintering kemudian dikarakterisasi sifat listriknya menggunakan LCRmeter, struktur dan morfologi kristal menggunakan XRD dan SEM, serta komposisi kimiawi (serbuk CSZ hasil presipitasi) menggunakan EDX. Pengotor yang masih tersisa saat proses sintesis zirkonia di analisis pengaruhnya terhadap karakteristik CSZ. Konduktivitas ionik dan densitas yang didapatkan meningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya suhu sintering. Dengan penambahan CaO, struktur kristal CSZ yang didapatkan berupa cubic FCC (Face Centered Cubic).
    Fuel Cells is a device that can change chemical energy from fuel to electrical energy. Fuel Cell can be used as fossil energy replacement because it can produce clean electrical energy. One type of fuel cell that is often used as research material is Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC). The main component in SOFC where energy changes occur is solid electrolytes. Zircon is the most common material that is often used as material for research related to SOFC solid electrolytes. In this study, zircon used previously has been synthesized from raw material of zircon silicate sand (ZrSiO4). The final results obtained after the synthesis process are Zr(OH)4 with impurity below 90%. CaO Stabilized Zircon (CSZ) was extracted using coprecipitation method with a composition of 18wt% CaO and 82wt% Zr(OH)4. CSZ powder then pressed at pressure of 3,2 ton/m2 and sintered at temperature of 1200°C, 1150°C, and 1100°C. After the CSZ pellets were sintered then the electrical properties were characterized using LCR meter, crystal structure and morphology using XRD and SEM, with chemical composition using EDX. The remaining impurities during the zircon synthesis process are analyzed for their effect on CSZ characteristics. Ionic conductivity and density obtained increase with increasing sintering temperature. With the addition of CaO, the CSZ crystal structure obtained is in the form of cubic FCC (Face Centered Cubic).
