Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dengan pentingnya model pembelajaran dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar dan pentingnya kegiatan membaca, khususnya membaca berita. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa dalam membaca berita antara sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model Number Head Together (NHT). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuasi eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest-posttest design. Teknik dalam pengumpulan data yaitu berupa tes tulis, serta teknik mengolah data berupa uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, uji gain serta uji hipotesis. Adapun yang menjadi sumber data dari penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X-1 SMA Negeri 13 Bandung tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Hasil dari penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) kemampuan membaca berita siswa sebelum menggunakan model Number Head Together (NHT) masih di bawah Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM), yaitu dengan nilai rata-rata kelas 68,9. (2) kemampuan membaca berita siswa setelah menggunakan model Number Head Together (NHT) mengalami peningkatan menjadi 79,6. (3) dari hasil uji hipotesis dengan ∝=0,01 dan dk=37 diperoleh t_hitung(9,69) > t_tabel (2,70), artinya hipotesis penelitian bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan membaca berita siswa kelas X-1 SMA Negeri 13 Bandung sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model Number Head Together (NHT) diterima. Dengan demikian, dapat dikatakan bahwa model Number Head Together (NHT) bisa meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman, khususnya dalam membaca berita. The study is motivated by the importance of the learning model in teaching and learning activities and the importance of reading, especially reading the news. This study aimed to describe the student's ability to read the news before and after using the model Number Head Together (NHT). Methods that used in this study is quasi-experimental methods with one group pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques that used is in the form of a written test, and data processing techniques namely normality test, homogeneity test, gain test, and hypotheses test. Data source of this study were students of class X-1 SMA Negeri 13 Bandung year academic 2012/2013. Based on the result of this study concluded that (1) student’s ability to read the news before using the model Number Head Together (NHT) is still below the minimum completeness criteria, with an average value of 68,9; (2) student’s ability to read the news after using the model Number Head Together (NHT) increased to 79,6; (3) the results of hypothesis test with α = 0,01 and dk = 37 obtained t_hitung (9,69)>〖 t〗_tabel (2,70), meaning that the research hypothesis that there is a significant difference between the ability to read the news class X-1 SMA Negeri 13 Bandung before and after using the model Number Head Together (NHT) is accepted.
