Abstract

This qualitative study examinesdiscovers lexical and syntactic features in a
commentary of Indonesia U23 against South Korea U23 match. Elan 5.2 software
was utilised to identify the features. The data were analysed using Lakoff and
Johnson’s (2003) metaphor and Ferguson’s (1983) syntactic features. The results
show that there are three types of lexical features: structural, orientational, and
ontological metaphors and five types of syntactic features: simplification,
inversion, result expression, heavy modifiers, and routines that are deployed in
theGunawan’s commentary of the match. Based on this result, the fThe findings
show that syntactic features were deployed by Gunawan, consisting 90.60% of
overall data, more often than lexical features. The syntactic features were used
mainly to save utterance time, while lexical features were used as analogy for
other concepts. The findings suggest that this study affirms to ideas of using
metaphor that football is war and omitting subject, or predicator, or object in
commentaries. In addition, in Indonesian context, there is a kind of simplification,
that is subject plus predicator plus object deletion in an utterance, and there are
only two patterns of result expression: noun phrase and verb construction.In
conclusion, this study indicates that Gunawan deployed lexical and syntactic
features in his commentary.
;---Penelitian kualitatif ini membahas tentang fitur-fitur leksikal dan sintaksis dalam
komentar pertandingan sepakbola Indonesia U23 melawan Korea Selatan U23.
Piranti lunak Elan 5.2 digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi fitur-fitur tersebut. Datadata
tersebut dianalisa menggunakan teori metafora Lakoff dan Johnson (2003)
dan teori fitur sintaksis dari Ferguson (1983). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan jika
di dalam komentar pertandingan di atas ada tiga jenis fitur leksikal: metafora
structural, orientasional, dan ontological, dan lima jenis fitur sintaksis:
penyederhanaan (simplification), pembalikan (inversion), ekspresi hasil (result
expression), penerangan padat dari suatu kata (heavy modifier), dan routines.
Temuan data menunjukkan jika fitur-fitur sintaksis utamanya digunakan sebagai
strategi menghemat waktu pengucapan, sedangkan fitur-fitur leksikal digunakan
sebagai analogi dari suatu konsep. Temuan-temuan diatas juga menyatakan jika
penelitan ini menguatkan ide penggunaan metafora sepakbola adalah perang dan
penghilangan subjek, predikat, dan objek dalam suatu komentar pertandingan.
Selain itu, dalam konteks Bahasa Indonesia, ada sejenis penyederhanan yaitu
penghilangan subjek, predikat, dan objek dalam suatu ujaran, dan hanya ada dua
pola ekspresi hasil: frasa kata benda dan konstruksi kata kerja.
