Abstract
Salah satu karakteristik manusia sebagai makhluk sosial yang dalam memenuhi kebutuhan hidupnya yaitu memiliki dorongan untuk beradaptasi, salah satunya beradaptasi ketika sedang menempuh pendidikan. Mahasiswa Papua yang merantau ke Bandung untuk melanjutkan pendidikan di Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia dengan latar belakang sosial dan budaya yang berbeda membuat mereka kesulitan dalam beradaptasi. Hal tersebut mendorong penelitian ini untuk mengungkap dampak proses adaptasi terhadap interaksi sosial mereka, termasuk hambatan yang dialami, interaksi sosial dan solusi untuk mengatasi hambatan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Informan penelitian terdiri dari mahasiswa afirmasi Papua, teman satu program studi mahasiswa Papua dan Kepala Divisi Pembinaan Program Kemahasiswaan dan Kesejahtraan Mahasiswa dengan teknik snowball sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, studi dokumentasi dan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) Ada empat faktor yang menghambat proses adaptasi mahasiswa Papua yaitu, faktor budaya, lingkungan fisik, pendidikan dan lingkungan masyarakat. (2) Mereka yang belum bisa beradaptasi berdampak pada interaksi mereka di lingkungan kampus yang hanya berinteraksi dengan sesama mahasiswa asal Papua, tidak mengembangkan diri di kampus, sedangkan yang sudah bisa beradaptasi berinteraksi dengan teman-teman di luar etnis Papua dan aktif mengikuti kegiatan organisasi di kampus. (3) Solusi yang dilakukan untuk mengatasi hambatan mahasiswa Papua dalam proses adaptasi dapat dilakukan oleh mahasiswa Papua sendiri dengan lebih percaya diri dan menerima orang baru disekitar mereka, kemudian teman diluar etnis Papua, masyarakat sekitar, Perguruan Tinggi dan pemerintah Papua. The one of human characteristic as a social creatures one who in their effort to complete any living needs namely the motivation for adaftating, one of the actions is adaftation as a student during it’s term of time. Papuan student in his journey when taking a program of study in Bandung in order to more program of education in Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, including it’s differences of sociocultural background made them found some difficulties for adaftation in the new brotherhood. In fact this chase had been one of the main factor as a base of this experimental literature to revealing the affect of the adaftation proccess for their social interactions. Including any problems made by it, social interaction and the right solution for solving the problems. This experiment has use the qualitative approach with chase project method. The informan of this experiment come from Papuan affirmation colleague student it self. Programe mates of Papuan Student and the chief of student conselling and prospherity Division done by Snow ball sampling technique. Collecting of data has been done by observations, interview, literacy and documental learning. The result of this experiment getting the facts (1) there were four factors as the problems of Papuan student adaftation, such as: cultural, pysic, education and society behaviourhood. (2) they weren’t adaftating yet had affected to their own interactions, in fact they were only got their interaction with another Papuan students only, those weren’t any improvisation in it. the other got contradictions process, they got their spreading interactions even with another ethnic student community. (3) the right solutions to solve the problem of adaftation is the confidence it self, they should accept any new living consequences of non papuans persons, citizens around, the university and Papuan Government.
