Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa SDN SKJ Bandung pada mata pelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan metode student teams-achievement divisions (STAD) untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa pada mata pelajaran IPS di kelas V SD SKJ Bandung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Taggart yang mencakup empat komponen, yaitu rencana, tindakan, observasi dan refleksi. Tindakan dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Alat pengumpulan data yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi kegiatan guru dan siswa serta tes evaluasi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 20 orang siswa kelas VC SDN SKJ di Bandung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, pada prasiklus pemahaman konsep pada mata pelajaran IPS siswa sebesar 35% tergolong kategori rendah. Pada siklus I meningkat sebesar 5%, menjadi 40% tergolong kategori rendah. Pada siklus II mengalami kenaikan sebesar 30% menjadi 70% tergolong kategori baik pada peningkatan pemahaman konsep pada mata pelajaran IPS siswa. Ini berarti bahwa penerapan metode STAD dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep pada mata pelajaran IPS di kelas V SD. ---- This research is based on the low concept comprehension of students from SKJ Bandung elementary school on social study. This study aims to describe the application of student teams-achievement divisions (STAD) method to improve concept comprehension on social study in fifth grade of SKJ elementary school Bandung. The research method used is classroom action research (PTK) Kemmis and Taggart model include four component which are planning, action, observation and reflection. Actions are implemented in two cycles. Data collection tools used in the form of observation sheet of teacher and student activities and evaluation test. The subject of this research is 20 students of class VC SKJ elementary school in Bandung. The results showed, on pre cycle concept comprehension in social study students by 35% belonging to the low category. In the first cycle increased by 5%, to 40% belonging to low category. In the second cycle increased by 30% to 70% belonging to the good category on improving concept comprehension on the subject of social studies students. This means that application of STAD method can improve concept comprehension on social study in fifth grade of elementary school.
