Abstract

Salah satu kemampuan yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam memecahkan permasalahan matematika, dan berguna dalam kehidupan adalah kemampuan spasial. Siswa tahfidz dituntut untuk mempelajari ilmu umum dan keagamaan, serta dituntut dapat menghafal Alquran sesuai standar sekolah, tentu diperlukan perhatian mengenai perkembangan kemampuan spasial siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan spasial siswa tahfidz di salah satu SMP Islam Terpadu di Kota Cimahi dalam menyelesaikan soal TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) pada domain konten geometri. Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan kekuatan dan kelemahan yang dimiliki siswa berdasarkan karakteristik kemampuan spasial menurut Haas. Penelitian deskriptif ini menggunakan metode analisis kombinasi (kuantitatif dan kualitatif). Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik stratified sampling. Responden dari penelitian ini terdiri dari 21 siswa kelas 9 SMP. Hasil studi menunjukkan: (1) Para siswa tahfidz tersebut memiliki kemampuan spasial yang baik dalam menyelesaikan soal, dengan rincian siswa pada katagori kemampuan spasial sangat tinggi sebesar 71%, siswa pada kategori kemampuan spasial tinggi sebesar 0%, siswa kategori kemampuan spasial sedang sebesar 19% dan siswa kategori kemampuan spasial rendah sebesar 10%; (2) Kekuatan dan kelemahan yang dimiliki siswa berdasarkan karakteristik kemampuan spasial menurut teori Haas yang memenuhi 4 karakteristik yang terdiri dari karakteristik pengimajinasian, pengonsepan, penyelesaian masalah dan penemuan pola. Siswa pada kategori kemampuan sangat tinggi memiliki kekuatan pada karakteristik pengimajinasian, pengonsepan, penyelesaian masalah dan penemuan pola. Siswa pada kemampuan sedang memiliki kekuatan pada karakteristik penyelesaian masalah dan penemuan pola sedangkan kelemahan yang dimiliki pada karakteristik pengonsepan. Siswa pada kemampuan rendah memiliki kekuatan pada karakteristik penemuan pola dan memiliki kelemahan pada karakteristik pengimajinasian, pengonsepan dan penyelesaian masalah---One of the capabilities should be possessed by students in solving mathematical problems which also practically in daily life is Spatial Ability. Tahfidz students, along with their many activities, are required to study general knowledge and religious knowledge, moreover are required to memorize The Koran consistently to meet school standards, certainly, it needs attention about Developing Spatial Ability of students. This research was conducted to know The Spatial Ability of Tahfidz Student in one of Islamic Junior High School in Cimahi City, through solving problems of the TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) in the geometry domain. This study also describes the strengths and weaknesses of students, especially on the characteristics of spatial ability, based on Haas. This descriptive research using combination analysis method (quantitative and qualitative). Sampling using stratified sampling technique. Respondents of this study consisted of 21 students of grade 9 Junior High. The results revealed: (1) These tahfidz students have good spatial ability in solving TIMSS problems - the geometry domain, which details amount, students in the highest (very high) spatial ability category by 71%, Students in high spatial ability category by 0%, students in medium spatial ability category by 19% and students in low spatial ability category by 10%; (2) Strengths and weaknesses of these students based on spatial characteristics according to Haas theory, fulfill 4 characteristics, which consist of characteristics of imagination, conceptualization, problem solving and finding pattern. Students in very high ability categories have strengths on characteristics of imagination, conceptualization, problem solving and finding pattern. Students in moderate ability have strengths on problem solving characteristics and finding pattern whereas have weaknesses on the characteristics of conceptualization. Students in low ability have strengths on the characteristics of finding pattern and have weaknesses on characteristics of imagination, conceptualization and problem solving.
