Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan program perkuliahan termodinamika dan Multimedia Interaktif Termodinamika (MMIT) yang dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep, keterampilan generik sains, dan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Program perkuliahan yang telah kembangkan memiliki karakteristik berpusat pada mahasiswa yang didukung dengan MMIT dengan komponen: (1) teori untuk menekankan konsep abstrak berbasis matematik; (2) animasi proses, dan siklus (3) eksperimen virtual tentang arah proses dan siklus; (4) latihan soal. Uji implementasi program perkuliahan dilakukan di salah satu perguruan tinggi negeri di Kalimantan Timur. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperimen menggunakan control group pretest-posttest design. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 34 mahasiswa kelompok eksperimen dan 33 mahasiswa pada kelompok kontrol. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri dari 40 butir tes pilihan ganda penguasaan konsep termodinamika yang terintegrasi dengan keterampilan generik sains dan berpikir kreatif, serta angket tanggapan mahasiswa dan dosen terhadap penerapan perkuliahan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perkuliahan efektif meningkatkan penguasaan konsep termodinamika, keterampilan generik sains, dan berpikir kreatif mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Hal ini diindikasikan oleh rerata skor N-gain penguasaan konsep termodinamika, keterampilan generik sains, dan berpikir kreatif kelompok eksperimen sebesar 0,60 dan kelompok kontrol sebesar 0,31dengan effect size 1,41 (kriteria tinggi). Penguasaan konsep N-gain tertinggi pada materi konsep dasar termodinamika (0,68) dan terendah pada materi energi dan hukum pertama termodinamika (0,55). Keterampilan generik sains N-gain tertinggi pada indikator pemodelan matematik (0,67) dan terendah pada indikator hukum sebab akibat (0,53). Keterampilan berpikir kreatif N-gain tertinggi pada indikator flexibility (0,72) dan terendah pada indikator originality (0,49). Mahasiswa dan dosen memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap pembelajaran termodinamika berbasis MMIT. Dengan demikian direkomendasikan program perkuliahan yang didukung dengan multimedia interaktif dapat diterapkan pada mata kuliah lain yang mengandung konsep abstrak dan berbasis matematik. ;--- This research aims to develop Thermodynamics course programand Interactive Multimedia (TIMM) to improve conceptual mastery, generic science, and creative thinking skills of physics prospective teachers. The courses that was developed have student-centered characteristics supported by MMIT with the components: (1) theories to emphasize mathematical based abstract concepts; (2) animations of process, and cycles; (3) virtual experiments about process and cycle; and (4) exercises. The implementation test course program was conducted in a state university in East Kalimantan. The research adopted a quasi-experimental method with the control group pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of 34 students of the experimental group and 33 students of the control group. The instruments consisted of 40 multiple choice questions for conceptual mastery of thermodynamics integrated with generic science, and creative thinking skills, and questionnaires to gain responses from students and lecturers on the implementation of learning. The results show that the teaching and learning was effective in improving the physics prospective teachers’ conceptual mastery of thermodynamics, generic science, and creative thinking skills. This effectiveness was indicated by the mean N-gain scores for the conceptual mastery of thermodynamics, generic science, and creative thinking skills for the experimental and control groups, which were 0.60 and 0.31, respectively and effect size 1.41 (high category). The highest N-gain of conceptual mastery was for the basic concept of thermodynamics (0.68) and the lowest for the topic of energy and first law of thermodynamics (0.55). The highest N-gain of generic science skills was for the indicator of mathematical modeling (0.67), and the lowest for causality (0.53). The greatest N-gain for creative thinking skills was for the indicator of flexibility (0.72) and the lowest for originality (0.49). Students and lecturers responded positively to the teaching and learning of thermodynamics based on TIMM. The developed course based on TIMM had positive implications for the improvement of conceptual mastery, generic science and creative thinking skills of the physics prospective teachers. The program course supported by interacrive multimedia is recommended to build other courses of mathematical based abstract concept in pysics program.
