Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pembelajaran sastra yang tidak mendapatkan perhatian di SMK dan rendahnya minat baca peserta didik terhadap karya sastra, khususnya teks cerita pendek. Peneliti mencoba menerapkan metode membaca rekreatif dalam pembelajaran membaca teks cerita pendek. Tujuan penelitan ini adalah untuk membuktikan pengaruh metode membaca rekreatif dalam pembelajaran membaca teks cerita pendek. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen kuasi dengan desain penelitian Pre-test Post-test Control Group desain. Pengambilan sampel kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dilakukan secara acak. Pengambilan data menggunakan instrumen tes dan nontes. Data yang diperoleh berupa hasil tes kemampuan membaca teks cerita pendek. Prosedur analisis data hasil tes menggunakan uji reliabilitas, normalitas, homogenitas dan hipotesis. Analisis data nontes dilakukan dengan mendeskripsikan data angket, hasil observasi proses pembelajaran dan hasil observasi aktivitas peserta didik. Temuan penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat pengaruh dari metode membaca rekreatif. Rata-rata nilai peserta didik mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan, terutama pada kelas eksperimen. Rata-rata nilai tes awal di kelas eksperimen 58 meningkat menjadi 72 dan rata-rata nilai tes akhir dikelas kontrol 47 meningkat menjadi 58. Hasil analisis data tes dan nontes di kelas eksperimen dan kontrol membuktikan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan. Perbedaan yang signifikan dari hasil analisis data tes ditunjukkan melalui uji hipotesis dengan hasil perhitungan thitung > ttabel (4.311> 1.674). Uji hipotesis menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh dari penerapan metode membaca rekreatif dalam pembelajaran membaca teks cerita pendek pada siswa kelas XI;-- This research’s background is the lack of concern for literature learning in SMK. The learners have low interest in reading and lack of literary appreciation, especially in short story texts. The learning to read literary text in SMK usually uses the same methods with non-literary reading methods. The researcher tries to apply recreational reading methods in reading short story. The purpose of this research is to prove the effect of recreational reading methods in learning to read short story texts. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental design with Pre-test Post-test Control Group design. The sampling of experimental class and control class is conducted randomly. The sampling uses test instrument and non-test instrument. The outcome data is the results of short story reading skills test. The procedure of test results data analysis uses reliability test, normality, homogeneity, hypotheses. The analysis of non-test data is conducted by describing questionnaire data, observation results of learning process, and observation results of learners’ activities. The finding in this research shows that recreational reading gives effect in reading skills. The average score of learners has increased significantly, especially in experimental class. The average score in experimental class is increased from 58 to 72, and the average score of control class is increased from 47 to 58. The data analysis results of test and non-test in experimental and control class prove that recreational reading gives a significant difference. The significant difference of data analysis results is shown by hypothesis testing with calculating results of thitung > ttabel (4.311>1.674). The hypothesis testing indicated that recreational reading gives effect in learning to read short story texts on 11th grade students
