Abstract

Studi ini untuk mempelajari bagaimana penerapan e-book berbasis STEM dalam meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan technology engineering literacy siswa pada tema pesawat sederhana. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dengan desain the static group pretest- posttest. Sejumlah siswa kelas VIII (n = 66) SMP N 1 Pangkalpinang terlibat sebagai subjek penelitian yang diambil dengan teknik cluster random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes penguasaan konsep dan tes technology engineering literacy. Teknik pengolahan data melalui uji normalitas dan homogenitas, perhitungan N-gain, dan uji-t dua pihak. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan penggunaan e-book berbasis STEM dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan technology engineering literacy siswa yang lebih baik daripada penggunaan e-book non STEM. Hasil analisis data penguasaan konsep menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan e-book berbasis STEM dapat membantu siswa meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dengan N-gain 0,44 (kategori sedang) yang lebih baik daripada penggunaan e-book non STEM dengan N-gain 0,13 (kategori rendah). Hasil analisis data technology engineering literacy menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan e-book berbasis STEM dapat membantu siswa meningkatkan technology engineering literacy siswa dengan N-gain 0,45 (kategori sedang) yang lebih baik daripada penggunaan e-book non STEM dengan N-gain 0,24 (kategori rendah). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan e-book berbasis STEM dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan technology engineering literacy siswa.;--- This study intended to learn how the implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) based e-book in promoting student’s conceptual understanding and technology engineering literacy on the topic of simple machine. This research used quasi-experiment method with the static group pretest-posttest design. The subject of the research was the students of second grade with total number of participants were 64 by using simple random sampling. The technique of collecting data used concept mastery test (pretest and posttest) and technology engineering literacy test. The technique of analyzing data used normality and homogenous test, N-gain test and t-test. The result of data analysis of concept mastery showed that the use STEM based e-book had N-gain 0,44 (medium category) can help the students to improve conceptual understanding better than the used of non STEM based e-book with N-gain 0,13 (low category). The result of data analysis of technology engineering literacy test showed that the used STEM based e-book had N-gain 0,45(medium category) can help the students to promote the technology engineering literacy better than the used of non STEM based e-book had N-gain 0,24 (low category). Based on data of the research result revealed that implementation STEM-based e-book has better effect to promoting student’s conceptual understanding and technology engineering literacy rather than non STEM-based e-book.
