Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan siswa untuk menemukan kosakata yang cocok dalam menulis laporan. Mereka kebingungan ketika menghadapi pembelajaran menulis laporan. Kebakuan bahasa dalam menulis laporan pun terkadang menjadi hambatan siswa karena penguasaan kosakata yang masih minim. Menulis laporan terkadang masih dianggap untuk memenuhi kebutuhan formalitas semata, sehingga siswa kurang memaknai proses dalam pembelajaran menulis laporan. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut peneliti menguji keefektifan strategi Questions Into Paragraphs (QUIP) dalam pembelajaran menulis laporan. Strategi QUIP merupakan kegiatan pembelajaran yang memunculkan pertanyaan sebelum menulis paragraf. Guru dan siswa menentukan topik. Siswa membuat lima pertanyaan berdasarkan topik yang telah ditentukan. Siswa melakukan wawancara untuk mencari jawaban dari pertanyaan yang telah dibuat. Siswa menyusun outline, kemudian mengembangkan outline menjadi laporan. Dengan adanya strategi QUIP, pembelajaran menulis laporan dilakukan secara bertahap dan dapat meningkatkan gairah untuk menulis. Penulis menggunakan metode eksperimen kuasi dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas pembanding. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 35 orang pada setiap kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu instrumen tes dan instrumen perlakuan. Berdasarkan data penelitian, diperoleh kenaikan nilai rata-rata dari prates ke pascates di kelas eksperimen. Selain itu, berdasarkan perhitungan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji t, diperoleh thitung > ttabel, yaitu 4,590 > 1,670 dalam taraf signifikansi 95% dan α = 0,05. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pembelajaran menulis laporan dengan menggunakan strategi QUIP di kelas eksperimen dan pembelajaran konvensional di kelas pembanding. Hal ini menyatakan bahwa strategi QUIP efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran menulis laporan.;--- This research was motivated by the difficulty of students to find words that fit in writing a report. Learners are less familiar with the report, so that they get confused when faced the subject of writing a reports. Language standard in writing the report was sometimes become obstacles for the learners because their vocabulary is not rich. Sometimes, writing reports is still considered to fulfill the requirement which mere formality. So that, the learners are enjoy less in the process of learning to write the report. Based on these problems, researcher will test the effectiveness of the Questions Into Paragraphs (QUIP) strategy in subject: writing a report. Questions Into Paragraphs (QUIP) strategy is a learning activity that is raising questions before writing a paragraph. With the QUIP strategy, the process of learning to write a report was carried out gradually and can increase arousal of learners to write. The method used was a quasi-experimental design with nonequivalent control group design. This study used two classes, experimental and controlled classes. The research samples were 35 people students in each class. Instruments used in this research were test instruments and treatment instruments. Based on research data, it was obtained an increase of average value of a pre-test to post-test in the experimental class. In addition, based on the calculation of hypothesis testing used t test, it was obtained tcount> ttable, that is 4.590 > 1.670 in significance level of 95% and α = 0.05. Based on these results, there is a significant difference between the results of learning to write reports using Questions Into Paragraphs (QUIP) strategies in the experimental class and using conventional learning in the controlled class. It is proved that the Questions Into Paragraphs (QUIP) strategy is effective to be used in learning to write a report.
