Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya perilaku peduli lingkungan peserta didik. Permasalahan ini merupakan temuan pada observasi yang dilaksanakan oleh peneliti beberapa bulan yang lalu. Indikasi permasalahan yang dijumpai adalah rendahnya perilaku peduli lingkungan. Permasalahan ini dapat menimbulkan kerusakan pada lingkungan sekitar yang berakibat pada kelangsungan hdiup makhluk hidup. Oleh karena itu perlu dikembangkanya perilaku peduli lingkungan dengan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek yaitu Project Based Learning dengan bahan sampah plastik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan pengembangan perencanaan, mempraktekan perencanaan, mengidentifikasi hambatan dan upaya serta mengetahui peningkatan perilaku peduli lingkungan dengan menggunakan Project Based Learning dalam pembelajaran IPS. Perilaku peduli lingkungan bisa diartikan sebagai tindakan yang dilakukan untuk menjaga dan melestarikan lingkungan. Media yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu sampah plastik bekas untuk membuat produk. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan desain penelitian model siklus yang dikembangkan oleh Lewin menurut Elliot yang dilaksanakan dalan 3 siklus yang setiap siklusnya terdiri dari 3 tindakan. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah guru mitra dan siswa kelas VIIIA MTs Al – Musyawaroh Lembang. Penelitian yang telah dilakukan memperoleh hasil yang baik. Hal tersebut hal tersebut terlihat dari hasil perolehan data disetiap siklusnya. Pada siklus pertama, perilaku peduli lingkungan berada pada kategori “Cukup”. Pada siklus kedua mengalami peningkatan sehingga nilai yang diperoleh berada pada kategori “Baik”. Dan pada siklus ketiga tetap pada kategori “Baik” hanya saja nilai yang diperoleh meningkat dari siklus kedua. Maka dapat peneliti simpulkan bahwa penelitian dengan menggunakan Project Based Learning dapat menumbuhkan perilaku peduli lingkungan peserta didik pada pembelajaran IPS. ;---The background of this study is the lack of the students’ environmentally conscious behavior. This problem was the finding of the observation conducted by the researcher several months ago. The indication of the problem encountered is the lack of environmentally conscious behavior. This problem can create damage in the environment that affects human being’s viability. Therefore, it is needed to develop environmentally conscious behavior by using Project Based Learning whose source is plastic waste. This study aims to depict the planning development, exercise the planning, identify the obstacle and the effort, and know the improvement of environmentally conscious behavior by employing Project Based Learning in social science education learning. Environmentally conscious behavior can be defined as a behavior conducted to keep and preserve the environment. The medium used in this study is plastic waste to create a product. The method of this research is Classroom Action Research with research design of cycle model developed by Lewin from Elliot conducted in three cycles in which each cycle consists of three actions. The subjects of this research are co-teachers and the students from MTs Al – Musyawaroh Lembang in grade VIIIA. The study that had been conducted produces good result. It can be seen from the data in each cycle. In first cycle, environmentally conscious behavior is in ‘average’ category. In second cycle, there is an improvement, so that it is in ‘good’ category. Meanwhile, in third cycle, it stays on ‘good’ category and the obtained score is increased from the second cycle. Consequently, it can be concluded that the research that uses Project Based Learning can develop the students’ environmentally conscious behavior in social science education learning.
